I think the phone is a necessary thing in our life...
If something bad is happening, you can quickly call ur parents or the police...
But now, the cell-phones are mostly used to praise...

Anyway, I think the phone is more necessary than to be use to praise :vsign:

Probably because of a sweet angel they've got for a son.

I need my phone to function.
- It serves as my alarm clock to wake up.
- It gives me the morning news.
- It provides me with my schedule for the day.
- It reminds me of important tasks.
- It acts as my business phone for important calls.
- I can pay bills, transfer money, etc.
- And it acts as a source of entertainment.
On top of:
- Replacing my landline.
- Replacing about 70 percent of actual computer use (the rest is for when I need to type or something)
- And more.

Many people won't utilize most of the smart phone's functions even if they have one, but for people who travel/work a lot, they're priceless.

As someone from the older generation I find the modern phones actually incredible.

We did not have telephones when I was young and did not miss them. Often it was only wealthy people who could afford a phone-- it was considered a luxury. It was very difficult if someone was ill and one needed a doctor, but there were public phone boxes.

Many a time I could have done with a mobile phone-- so useful to send or receive important messages, save a great deal of worry if someone who is away is travelling and is late home.

I think mobile phones are a marvellous invention-- although some people seem to be permanently glued to their phone whereever they are.

For me they are useful-- but I do not use mine as my family do-- they always seem to be on them.

Who would have imagined such an invention fifty years ago?

I gather they can even get you on the net now-- amazing. Such technology is moving so fast-- No doubt I am way behind where technology is concerned.

I have a landline at home so only use mobile when we are out in emergency.

@dogsbody70

That's how I justify having a phone. People often discuss the negative aspects, but they don't take into consideration how much of a pain it used to be before they were mainstream. Now, I'm not old by any means(college student/worker), but even I remember having to call Collect on a payphone when I didn't have the change, or my dad getting a message on his beeper and having to find a phone to call back on.

YOur phone sounds amazing------- still find it all amazing. now what will be the next big thing re phones do you reckon?

have many of you got the IPAD?

I have an IPOD and I use it to study japanese when I am walking around. That again is magical I think. youngsters are used to these wonders-- but for someone like me its like living on a new planet. what will the next ten years produce I wonder?

..can't left without him. I'm an addict XDDDD I need my phone all the time.

I don't know why it is, but i feel naked without him. Cellphone is a basic pillar of modern life..i think.

You've Been Had ...........

Mobile phones are simply NOT necessary in your life.

The phone companies may say otherwise in their glossy ad's , but to be honest - the majority of conversations held on them are about absolutely - nothing , and are merely a way of using up airtime which you would otherwise lose , if its not used within a certain time.

The old phrase - " A fool and his money are easily parted " certainly applies in this case , and the phone companies must be laughing all the way to the bank.
