what i was saying was that if we can replicate *human thought process*, not just human actions why would you not want such a machine?

Salvanas 11-25-2009 07:44 PM

Some people just don't know where to stop. Crossing the line seems to be some sort of fad these days.

How sad.

Much agreed. It seems the immaturity of the world's government, and media has had a negitive impact on society...

It is rather sad...

Sure it would be cool, I'd love a machine like that. but not as a replacement for a human partner.

the guy married a character on a friggin nintendo ds...
He clearly has serious social issues, and is probably quite depressed inside. In all likelihood he has never been in a real relationship, and never felt what that's like.

That's why I think this is wrong. If this guy was actually really popular with the ladies and has decided to throw that all away for a game character then what the hell, go for it.
But the truth is most likely that he fell back on this game because he couldn't deal with real girls.
And that's why it's a sad story.

It's depressing me!! I'm leaving this thread!! T.T

lol...but yes...and like Salvanas said before...people just don't know where to draw the line. You're right, RKitagawa, he does have some major issues, and those can be heavily influenced by what you use to cope with those issues. So we can assume that the guy used his DS to cope, and eventually felt that void in his heatr filled...leading to him wanting something more...

from what filled his heart in the first place...

That's sad...

it's just adaptation.. idk what you all are talking about with "the line" and drawing it, but it makes no sense ... most of the modern day normalities were once "behind the line"
like these:
abortion
showing of cleavage in public by women
showing of arms in public by women
showing of ankles in public by women
piercings
tattoos
premarital sex
outsourcing
condoms
cremation
homosexual relations
bestiality (this one is also still in the works.. throwing my weight behind that one as well)
catalytic converters
non tetraflouride coolants in refrigerators
small engines in small cars
women in the workplace
etc.

This is a different premise.
But...

To each his own I suppose...*shrugs*

IamKira
I don't see how any of the things you just mentioned have anything to do with this topic...

and wait....... did you just say that you support bestiality??

IamKira 11-25-2009 09:25 PM

my point is that which we act on as the norm today were considered to be across the line during past decades
just as this will inevitably be accepted in the future and we will be looked upon the same as those who suppressed women's right to abortion or divorce etc.
