But now she is telling me she thinks its a waste of money, and this morning she was seriously raising a storm about it. I mean, she says she'll still get it for me, but the thing about my mom is that when she doesn't want to do something, but she does it anyway, she is gonna be real b-chy (lol. sorry. I'm on a pact) about it for atleast a month. And she's real scary . Any advice? Should I tell her I still want it (cause I still do. A LOT!!!!!!), or should I just give up on it? Maybe ask for something else, like..................see! I've been wanting my japanese stuff for sooooooo long I can't even think about what else I might want! I guess a gift card to Rue21? I am so lame. Help if ya can.
P.S. keep in mind that these programs have been what I want for about 6 months now. its kind of hard to even think about letting them go. *sigh*
She probably cares about you, that's all.

wow. lol. thanks. - 12-08-2009, 01:22 PM

I didn't expect so many people to reply so quick. Uhm, anyways, thanks for all of your advice but in the end it doesn't really matter because I'm not getting it anyway. Turns out that I can't, for better words. But still, I will take a shot at those websites that you guys suggested and will continue to self-teach myself I guess (with some help from audio tapes and whatnot). Thanks again. And, by the by, I KNOW that life isn't all nice. I've had my ups and downs (more downs than anything) so pointing that out wasn't really called for.

Genki textbook costs 10% of Rosetta Stone. And it's more useful if your goal really is to learn Japanese.

What he said. Work books are much cheaper, and more easier to learn from than Rosetta Stone.

Here's a good one I used when I was learning it.

Amazon.com: Ultimate Japanese Beginner-Intermediate (CD/Book) (Ultimate Beginner-Intermediate) (9781400021130): Living Language: Books

A bit costly, but very, very good.

Dayum.

Now I feel like a fool for not taking Japanese seriously. My parents were paying big bucks for me to attend Saturday school and I spent the entire school day flirting with the girls.

Search locally for a Japanese language tutor... I'm sure it's not all that uncommon (depending on where you live)

You could get 5-6 weeks of private lessons for that price!

You may also see a lot of ads for free or very cheap introductory material from Pimsleur. It may be helpful, but I found some of the vocabulary and phrasing very different from what I was taught in a formal class and from native speakers.
