Live from the iPad!

Got a 32gb wifi iPad. I am posting this from it at the apple store in Texas. Heading back to Japan on Tuesday.

This thread is now about the iPad. Discuss.

Koir 04-03-2010 06:56 PM

Can't wait for the time in a couple months a more full-featured version comes out and costs less than the first version.

It will be hilarious.

Tsuwabuki 04-03-2010 08:00 PM

What features do you think you need from it?

I needed a combined ebook reader media player internet surfer with touch capability and no bulk keyboard or main body. And I did not get the most expensive one. I'm happy with what I paid. If I hadn't been, I would have waited.

Koir 04-03-2010 08:08 PM

I don't have any use for it, really. Just an amused observer watching the Cult of Jobs worship at the proprietary altar.

Aniki 04-03-2010 08:56 PM

Ipad is just the fat version of Ipod touch while being marketed toward multi-media users it lacks many important features for it. I simply don't see what kind of role it might play in my daily life.

metalmark666 04-03-2010 09:43 PM

No offence Tsuwabuki, I'm sure it is great, but I still recon that the name 'iPad' sounds like Apples answer to the sanitary towel!!!

noodle 04-03-2010 10:32 PM

Agree with Aniki totally! It doesn't even have any USB's or memory card ports or anything! I'd rather have an Archos 9

JayT 04-03-2010 11:01 PM

I don't really see the point when I already have an iPhone.
It just seems like an iPod touch with a larger screen,
it doesn't really have any new amazing innovative features to it.
Need an ebook reader? iPhone has the kindle app, I use it all the time.
Plus the fact that it's wifi only. Almost all connections are secured these days,
so what's the point?
Pass.

Tsuwabuki 04-03-2010 11:52 PM

Actually, it isn't the same. It does have different features. However, it does have limited uses. These are just uses that I would rather not use my laptop or my iPhone for. My MacBook is for heavy duty content creation. I prefer Internet and media consumption on the iPad. The iPhone is for being on the move, on street corners, quick checks. The iPad is for along distance trips on trains, planes, and automobiles.

Reading on my iPhone is too difficult. I have to hold it too close and the text is either too small or too oddly formatted.

MMM 04-04-2010 12:05 AM

I am looking forward to checking one out. They look really cool.

Correct me if I'm wrong but looks to me that you chose iPad because it's an apple product not because of it's features?

You know how Apple users are. It is a lifestyle choice.

Aniki 04-04-2010 12:45 AM

I never could understand such people. Why cling to one company's products when there are plenty alternatives out there, and most of time the alternatives are better. iPads case is a good example.

JayT 04-04-2010 02:21 AM

Apple makes great quality products, I've never had a problem with any of their things. But I do agree about the iPad, I'd rather get a touch screen netbook.

Tsuwabuki 04-04-2010 03:46 AM

Apple products are a recent choice for me. However, I have significantly less issues with them than products from other manufacturers. Therefore, the peace of mind is worth the extra cost and perhaps lack of some features.

My experiences with windows devices have been... Well... Less than pleasing.

Problems with the iPad already?

I read on the news today stating that there's already a group of men wanted to be world's first ever to smash the iPad.. ;)

Too late. Will It Blend already tossed an iPad into a blender.

Co worker bought one hes been playing with it for 2 days straight now instead of working lol. Looks interesting i have no use for one atm my iphone does everything i need it do. Personally im waiting for the new iphone.

TalnSG 04-08-2010 05:06 PM

Seems Apple has quality control problems like all other companies these days. There is a growing list of users who find their new iPad not as functional as they were supposed to be. What use is it if it won't connect to the net?

SaintKat 04-10-2010 04:48 AM

Not buying it.

I don't like how the DRM on it works. If I buy something then I expect to be able to use it (legally) however I want.

It could be a great table leg leveler?

Tsuwabuki 04-10-2010 05:13 AM

I have had none of the reported issues.

Flash support would be a nice place to start.

WeeFugu 04-21-2010 07:47 PM

I have to say I think it is one of Apple's lesser creations. I can't think of any special part it would play in my life other than reading e-books, and my touch does that just fine. Just my opinion of course. ;) Hope you enjoy your new wee toy.

EDIT: And I am an Apple freak. I have two macbooks and two touches and a shuffle, so I am not a mac-hater. I just can't find a justified reason to get one. Thinking of an iphone though. I get frustrated when I am not in a wi-fi area with my touch. Takes the magic out of it. lol.

Progress is funny. I bought an iPad in 2010, and it worked perfectly for three years. I just got the iPad air, a lot of progress has been made since this post was written.

Apple never ceases to impress me with their innovations.

I have never touched another brand since i got my iPhone 3g(got 3gs,4s, now i have 5) and iPad 1 (i now have iPad4)

Haven't upgraded to the latest yet ..

And I'm also thinking to replace my windows computer with a Mac mini and a macbook pro soon.

lauradee2 01-10-2014 08:55 PM

So I am totally jealous of the fact that you are not only in Texas, but also just purchased an iPad. How do you like the iPad? I have had Android based pads and an iPad. I have also had both types of phones, and i don't know if I have settled on one or the other. I think both have their advantages. Apple has been very good at building its' brand and marketing. Steve Jobs was a brilliant man. I will give Apple respect for being able to dominate as much of the market as they have over the past few years. The iPad was another brilliant invention of theirs.
