The spam and bickering takes its toll, and activity on most internet forums has lulls - often at predictable seasons, like when the weather first warms up and being outdoors appeals more, or holidays when there a more distractions.
For people in my part of the U.S. this is the best time for outdoor events (between icy winter and broiling summer) so we don't sit at our computers.
And there are more and more companies barring employees from using the internet for anything more than checking email, which could have hit our discussions.
But in my case, the majority of topics just aren't that appealing. I have little or no interest in anime or jrock fandom. Its always been a large segment of JF and should be, but I don't even read or post there.
The language and relocation topics are strong right now, and again its rarely something for me to participate in.
The cultural topics continually wax and wane and the regulars are still posting in several of them..... including myself.
