This is the woman's way of saying "I will keep you well fed."

It is a two-way street, and has nothing to do with "being greedy".

Ah, see here many women don't know how to cook. This sounds like quite a good system then. Thanks. ^^

Alright, that makes sense . . .

So what does a woman do to make herself appear as a valuable mate?

Opens her legs?

My female japanese friends were super suprised when I first opened doors for them, saying ladies first and carrying bags for them. They said there's no gentleman culture in japan yet they wish there was!

*chortles* Ouch, but that question was asking for a punchline...

I was predicting that response. But that still doesn't answer the question. If the pursuit of serious dating is to find a mate/spouse then being perceived as an "easy woman" is not exactly a selling point.

It could be argued that an "easy woman" isn't into serious dating.

Here? Well the issue is a bit more complicated than that. However we have greatly declining marriage rates, divorce rates up to 50%, and a lopsided legal system that rewards one sex over the other. In fact most marriages are ended by the female. If you are interested, here is a blog that talks about a fairly recent phenomenon over here... the men's Marriage Strike.

The Marriage Strike

I know many choose not to acknowledge this problem we have, but it exists. Oh, and the open her legs thing is fairly accurate in today's culture...

So my question still stands. If a woman can't cook, what will she do to make her appear as a serious mate?

I am not sure where "here" is, but I think we are getting a little off the original topic.

1) Nothing any of them have done have shown me they are good marriage material. That and I'm uneasy at the prospect of marriage due to the reasons that I posted for you. I don't feel women are very committed to the idea of a relationship and even if they are, you have a 50% chance of it ending in a bust followed by wage slavery.

2) Sorry, in my introduction thread I stated I was in Los Angeles, CA (United States)
