FIFA World Cup 2010 Thread!!

So now it's finally FIFA World Cup (I know 3 days late). My country didn't even make it though, so that sucks.

Did you guys watch Japan vs Cameroon today? They owned!! 1-0 to Japan YeahH!!

I'm surprised to see Korea and Japan doing really well in FIFA so far, props to my asian brothers!!

What team are you guys cheering for? Me personally, I'm cheering for Netherlands, Japan and Korea =D

Note for mod: I know there's a thread in Japan Sports, but this isn't only related to Japan right?=S

US and Spain I have to show my US support.

Japan did well their next games are going to be tough they did play well though Cameroon just wasn't on their game. I was surprised by the outcome.

MMM 06-14-2010 05:18 PM

Too bad USA isn't on the list. That's the team I would vote for.

V1nn1 06-14-2010 06:22 PM

Japan ofcourse =D

Holland didn't play good today...

JasonTakeshi 06-14-2010 07:27 PM

No Portugal there yet we were finalists @ 2004 and 4th place @ 2006.~

FIFA.com - The FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking

You either haven't watched Netherlands play or don't watch football much. Denmark was good, but Netherlands were better. They didn't gave Danes much chances leaving them only to defend themselves for the whole game.

After Group E play today, I'm pretty much got the picture which teams will pass. Obviously, Netherlands will kick Japan's ass in the next match, and Denmark Cameron's. So most interesting match in the will be with Japan with Denmark.

MMM 06-14-2010 08:08 PM

After the volume of upsets we have seen in the first few days, I still wonder how anyone can say the results of any match-up will be obvious.

Aniki 06-14-2010 08:32 PM

You can wonder all you want MMM, while I wait and see if I'm wrong or not.

PS: Italy - Paraguay 1:1. Good game.

It was interesting watching the pre-game announcer (former player for England) saying befor the Italy Paraguay game "I don't know who is going to win. So far every prediction I have made has been wrong."

Aniki 06-14-2010 08:49 PM

The announcer, was predicting before the teams debut, I'm predicting after seeing the teams perform. Big difference.

Jaydelart 06-15-2010 12:35 AM

Don't follow FIFA.
... But I'm rooting for Hanguk, America, Brazil and Nihon~

Considering he is a well-paid "expert" and has been following the teams for months I would hope he would have an educated opinion. The point is, there is always room for surprises. But your point is well taken.

amandabenami 06-16-2010 02:32 AM

Red Devils Here, and Brazil ola ola ola

crazyviking 06-16-2010 11:29 PM

Im cheering on Switzerland and Netherlands.

Tturtle 06-17-2010 04:21 PM

I haven't really been cheering for anyone in particular since i dont follow the sport. I have basically been picking a team when the game starts. But aren't VUVUZELAS THE MOST ANNOYING THING YOU'VE HEARD IN YOUR LIFE!!!

Sinestra 06-17-2010 04:49 PM

RazerKill 06-17-2010 05:55 PM

madao 06-17-2010 09:32 PM

Japane Forefer :)

Sinestra 06-18-2010 01:27 PM

WHOA:eek: Germany just lost to Serbia 1-0 i didnt see that coming.

noodle 06-18-2010 02:33 PM

I wish I was a gambling man! I'd go out and put a bet on the most random unlikely result! lol. This WC is messy!

Sinestra 06-18-2010 02:51 PM

US is getting ROCKED by Serbia they scored 2 before the half 2-0. I love soccer but the US just has a long way to go to catch up to the rest of the world. They playing exactly how they did 4 years ago such a shame.

Update: Donvan scores a beautiful goal US one goal down 2-1

noodle 06-18-2010 03:55 PM

Sinestra, I think you should take your words back! The US Rocked it! That match was more intense than France's last night! And to top it off, first real controversy of the world cup! Why did the ref not give that goal to the US! If anything, two US players were fouled!

Sinestra 06-18-2010 04:08 PM

Youre right i take them back lmao i just know the US is better than people give them credit for.

final 2-2 US had a good back but we need to step it up we can not play this against Algeria. We need to beat Algeria by at least 2 goals and we need England to beat Solvenia so we can advance.

But nonetheless the US showed great spirit and never gave up. I loved Donovan's goal. I watched the replay on that foul and yes the call was WRONG both US players were fouled and inside the goal. I dont know the ref did not give the goal to us.

V1nn1 06-18-2010 06:53 PM

=O tomorrow (today in Japan) Holland vs. Japan!

I'm expecting everything from that match.

I mean, nothing is going to surprise us anymore.

diego187 06-18-2010 09:14 PM

You didn't add Mexico to the list so I voted for Japan. As most people voted.

MMM 06-18-2010 09:43 PM

I am sure ENG was not happy with their 0-0 finish with ALG.

O.o

V1nn1 06-21-2010 04:31 PM

Yeah I know O_o, at the start they didn't do it that bad, but at the end...

kyo_9 06-21-2010 05:53 PM

What a bad day for the North Koreans..
I hope the players will not be blamed by their countrymens..
If I'm not mistaken, it is their first WC after 44 years..

johnjun1410 06-23-2010 10:26 AM

Japan will qualify for the next round.........
we hope............they all play well.

Ronin4hire 06-23-2010 01:20 PM

I support teams in this order

New Zealand (My home)
Any non- European or South American team (except North Korea)
Any team within Europe or South America that hasnt won the world cup before

Liongale 06-24-2010 07:42 PM

Yay, Japan ahead 2-0 vs. Denmark so far. I had a feeling Denmark would think they'd go defensive, since their defense is good and they only need to tie, but what an attack in the first half! Especially against an experienced goalkeeper!

My New Zealand got knocked out, but that's okay, because we didn't lose (just tied) against some really good teams!

edit: Japan zooms 3-1... what teamwork on that last goal. Honda could have made it in himself but he went for the assist. That is why I love Team Japan, they really show they work together.

spicytuna 06-24-2010 11:39 PM

Awesome game by Japan. Incredible footwork and teamwork.

Can't wait 'till next week!

ericdimzon 06-25-2010 03:55 AM

Japan Is Spectacular At The World Cup

I am truly happy for Japan as it qualifies to the next round of the World cup. Honda is just so amazing. I don't think anyone expects Japan to do so well. The Blue Samurai is cutting its opponents to shreds. The best of luck to Japan !!!

JasonTakeshi 06-25-2010 08:24 PM

Chile (1-2) Spain
Switzerland (0-0) Honduras
