what is your interest in JAPAN
I notice there are members from around the world on this forum including myself from UK.
I wonder why many people are interested in Japan. Myself is because of my good japanese friend who inspired an interest in trying to understand HER but also the history and culture of Japan. I have bought or borrowed many books about japan plus trying to learn the language. |
USA!!
I like the anime and manga, I try to watch someon Adult Swim, but never online anymore. The culture interets me as well |
My interest in japan first came from the culture. I watch anime but not much. I really just like the older culture, art, and lifestyles. What peeked my interest was this fiction book series about a samurai in training that was somewhat historically accurate.

What sparked my interest in the Japanese culture was it's art: Their statues, paintings, architecture, cartoons, martial arts, etc.
I've had an appreciation for art since I was very young, and it was inevitable that I would come across Japan. It just happened I was able to relate to it and like it. Only recently have I had a particular interest in Japanese cuisine, music, and fashion. But there it is. |
im from latvia...since past 700 years (from ~1200 till ~1860) we were pretty much owned by german landlords so we dont have a culture like japan has. we do not have traditions as deep - polite language with stranges (name+sensei/chan/san), tea drinking traditions, temples and etc - thats what fascinates me about it...
we just have our own "octoberfest" at summer solstice and nation wide singing festival - here is a small preview also im about to start asian studies programme and learning japanese at univesity. |
I'm not as enthusiastic about Japan as most people around here are but I'm Interested in the cultural mannerisms and the phonetic aspects of the language....
that's about it. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit the country for these reasons...I would do it if I get paid to do it though (teaching contract lol) Like I said...not as enthusiastic as most. :P |
I'm from Canada. ;D
the reason why i like it is actually because of anime & manga; i used to watch so much of it. then i managed to move onto dramas and music. i started from there and just found my way into the whole culture & language. i fell inlove. ^__^ ♥ Now i'm working on learning the language; slowly. once i'm out of high school, i'll be moving there. or atleast traveling (hopefully) so i'll be able to experience everything firsthand. |
It's not just Japan but also China and Singapore. The culture and history in Asia is interesting.

From Australia
Only 3 reasons I came to live here, snow, snow and more snow! Many people don't realise that Japan receives some of the heaviest average snowfalls in the world, especially up here in Hokkaido. And there's not only a hell of a lot of it but it is incredible quality powder. This was my initial interest in Japan and remains one of the main reasons I have lived here for nearly 6 years. The culture is ok I guess which is a bonus but the outdoors lifestyle in Hokkaido and the long, cold, snowy winters are the main reasons I love this place. |
My first interest in Japan started in the late 70s when I was a kid watching anime. When I got older I was fascinated by Tokyo as a big city. Having majored in Fashion and working as a Buyer I'm drawn to the clothing (from haute to street) and the shopping found in Japan. I have collected a number of books about traditional Japanese clothing and how to construct them. I am also interested in Japanese pottery. Sometimes I think I end up going back to Japan primarily for the food. :D
|
I like Japanese game anime drama and Japanese men are good-looking women are cute I haven't been to Japan I wanna go there p.s. I have not much interest in Korea :p
|
Different country, civilize country and it's the fartest I can humanly go without going to space!
And the culture and very different from mine, so I want to see it. Seems like a very beautiful country! |
I don't know how or why it started, but my earliest interest in anything Japanese (at maybe 12) was a study of the traditions surrounding the Geisha. That led to more in-depth history and evolved into a study of Shinto by the time I was 14. The food and language began only in the last 20 years.
|
I'm interested in Japan because of their culture, art, anime, manga, history, mythology, lifestyle, food, and people. I even love their flag!! LOL!!. What's there not to love about Japan?? That's a rhetorical question. Do not answer that. LMFAO!!! :D :pinksong: :happypika: :pompoms: :D

For me Japan represents the point of view of a modern Eastern country and I find it interesting in comparison to the viewpoints of the Western country where I live. I’d like to expand my point of view of things by getting to know another perspective of life.
|
I was born in Mexico but I live in the states. I got into Japan when my mom showed me Sailor moon and Dragon Ball. Later she showed me Inuyasha. Thats when I started getting fascinated by their culture and the art. Soon the language interested me. So I took a japanese language class. I learned a little bit but Im still missing a lot . |
The scenery: the old temple houses and shrines and especially the hot springs...got to love hot water :)
|
Musics .movies ,cartoon
From China,
JP popular musics, movies... Can relax yourself during busy times.:D Cartoon is okay too. |
Probably many Europeans find Japan so attractive because it’s very different, distant and exotic. We can project our fantasies in this country, I guess.
|
Apart from a fantastic, rich and deep culture, the ladies are pretty damn stunning.
|
I actually have the privilege of working alongside a Japanese VIP and his attache in the past, and decided to give myself a crash course in Japanese business etiquette, so I wouldn't come across as a fool before meeting them in person.
While the duty on the day was rather solemn, I found them an absolute pleasure to work with. To me it was something unforgettable, and I might talk about it more in the future. |
i was in beijing for a summer mandarin language course long time ago. me and my roommate from lebanon were bored in our shared dorm room and we convinced our chinese friend to download movies from her laptop. we watched chinese, japanese, korean movies almost every day in our home far away from homes. i had suddenly developed an interest in japanese and korean language. my interest here is the language.

I have a fascination with language. I feel a little kept in the dark not knowing how to speak it, I love the way their language looks and sounds. :) |

I love Japan (& China for that matter) because the culture, both old & modern, really appeals to me. I love the culture, sports, music, the people, the architecture, the neon glow of the cities, the social & work aspects & the beautiful countryside. And when Shunsuke Nakamura joined my favourite football (soccer) team, Glasgow Celtic, I was overjoyed.
|
Actually everything both ancient and modern, from Car to Cartoon from Food to Drink from Tsutenkaku to Tokyo Tower, everything.
|
The culture really intrests me as well as the fashion. :)
|
What is your interest in Japan. and WHY?
|
cute girls, interesting animation and comics, VERY interesting history, and the pop culture is an implacable zaniness of a train wreck in slow motion on LSD.

Because I find the society, the culture, the history, the fashion, the art, the wonderful music and movies, and the people all very fascinating and appealing to me. I want to know and experience life in Japan and I just find it a very interesting culture. It is way different than my country and that attracts me to it even more. Their music and movies have beautiful messages in them and the language is interesting to learn as well.I don't know why so many people only like the anime and manga or get into Japan just because of that when there is so much more important things to Japan..

my interest in japan
My interest in Japan started with anime/manga when I was 4. Ever since then, I've been interested. Also, everyone seems nice and I like how they live. They actually go out and do things. There are always events going on, and they don't do that in America. The girls in America can be really mean and im wondering how the girls are in Japan.

i always digged japanese culture and the people. they're so fucking awesome, just look at all the awesome shit they produce in media!!!
also they have awesome physical appearance, some japanese people have crazy amazing eyes, u almost get like mesmerized xd Only problem is that i hang out with two completely different groups of ppl. I have one group of friends who listen to jrock and like japanese culture, then I have another group of friends who couldnt care less about japanese culture and pretty much diss all my j-rocker friends and call them faggots because they dress like girls etc. it's kinda hard to have two so different friend groups, but it's because i'm a mix of those two. i'm not like obsessed with japanese culture, i don't try to look or act like them (there is a scary amount of people who do this), i guess i'm just a casual fan of japanese people and culture. maybe my love for japanese culture comes from the fact that i have exactly 12.5% japanese blood in me xd |
I was 6 years old when I fist got in contact with "Japan"...
I watched a lot of Anime, later I started collecting Manga, too. Since I like drawing, I started drawing Manga as well... ___________________________________________________________ Over the years I took more and more interest in the country itself: How do they live over there? What's the language like? The Music? Art? Culture?.... The more I learned about life over there, the more I started to love it. And I still do <3 I've been to several countries by now...But none of them inspired me as much as Japan <3 I've been learning Japanese language for 1 year now. *gives cookieS to everyOne* I just love almost everything in this country.... greetz~ Raku,. |
Love the culture
My sister moved to Japan when she was 19. She learned the language and stayed there for many years. She used to send us stuff back and I just realized how incredibly cool the culture is there. So, I went. Loved it.
Now, I'm a performer and find myself either counting off in Japanese (on my song Sneakers) or I even wrote a song called Japanese Robot. The music is rock for kids, but it's so sweet, even adults love it. Japanese Robot | Princess Katie & Racer Steve I just find Japan super cool - fashion, tech, design. |
