Permission for political demonstration?

I want to organize a small political demonstration in Tokyo, but I'm not sure if I need a license or police permission to do so. It will be held in front of the Russian embassy, we'll have some posters and photos with us and do nothing violent.

I searched over internet but couldn't find any relevant information. Any and all answers are appreciated.

Get a permission beforehand or you'll get your ass busted in a flash. If you're a foreigner, you know you don't want that.

My understanding is that you need to go to the police department that has the jurisdiction over the Russian Embassy something like at least 72 hours prior to your planned demonstration. I could be wrong with that number, tough.

If I were you, I'd call my local police office for the details first.
