Dreams and Interpretations
<SleepAddict> Have you ever had a strange dream, and upon waking up you are unable to comprehend what the dream meant? Perhaps you will be able to find someone to interpret the dream here. Just post up some of your more peculiar dreams and see what others think of them. <Yumyumtimtam> and I've got some questions would like to ask you. 1)Do you dream in colour, or black and white? I never had a black and white dream, but there are a few people say they never had one with colour! 2)Are you able to realize that it's just a dream while you are dreaming? When or if you do, can you do whatever you want in that dream? from SleepAddict:vsign: and Yumyumtimtam:ywave: |
I interpret my own dreams, but I'm pretty sure that dreams can't be interpreted in detail and correctly by random people on the internet.
1. Color, though there have been times where my dreams are highly desaturated, but none completely black and white. 2. I do this a lot (lucid dreaming). Sometimes I play around with my dream, but usually I have a "screw this, next!" attitude where I either wake up or switch dreams. |
I've been having peculiar dreams recently, for 3 nights in succession. And they were very lucid, I can still remember the first one vividly. They all had a theme about relationships, though. First it was about my friends, then my family and then my love life. I dunno if my dreams are trying to tell me something or that it's a premonition of some sort, but it's a little too coincidental for me. O.o

1)Do you dream in colour, or black and white?
I never had a black and white dream, but there are a few people say they never had one with colour! I think perhaps I've had a few dreams where the color was drained out but not really black and white. I know I have most of my dreams in color and dreams where particular colors are important. 2)Are you able to realize that it's just a dream while you are dreaming? When or if you do, can you do whatever you want in that dream? Every so often I can have a dream going along a sort of plot line and it will suddenly go in a direction that seems wrong and that jars me to a point where I become alert enough to redirect it to the way I want to go. I can sometimes also jump from person to person in the dream and play it from different points of view or jump out and just be entirely the "cameraman" for a while. I want to have a solid flying dream but the closest I get is being able to jump really far - like hill top to hill top. |
Most of my dreams are about skiing down endless slopes of deep, dry powder snow. Don't need anyone to interpret those for me. I already know I'm hopelessly addicted to skiing! ;)

Depends on the dream. Normally it's ordinary colour, sometimes I dream in black and white, sometimes black and white with highlights (eg, anything yellow is in colour, the rest isn't), sometimes it all runs on a monochromatic theme (eg, everything is in shades of blue) 2)Are you able to realize that it's just a dream while you are dreaming? Almost never. I've had a few dreams where I've clued in that it's just a dream, but they're few and far between and always of one very particular sort. Often I kind of half-realize but I'm busy playing the part of someone else and I want to keep rolling and see where the story goes, so I let the knowledge that it's just a dream slide. Does anyone else get sensory input during their dreams? I mean like taste, touch, smell, pain, hot, cold etc or is it all limited to visuals for you? And have you ever died in a dream? |
Quote:
I have died in accidents and been killed in dreams but I don't go through with the experience. I jump out of my body into cameraman mode or become someone else. |
Quote:
As for dying, I think I have, a few times. I usually drift to a third-person view, just before the incident or immediately after. Then I wake up, in a temporal state of limbo. |
I actually love to dream. Over the years I have been able to "control" them to some extent. I'm not totally sure if my dreams are in black and white or color...I've honestly never paid attention. I have felt pain in my dreams also. Just a few days ago I had the worst nightmare of my life. I did something in my dream I would NEVER even CONSIDER doing in my waking life. I was helpless to stop the dream or alter it in any way as it was happening and, when it was done I immediately awoke sobbing and, pretty much freaking out. I've considered researching the meaning of it to try and understand why my mind would go to such a dark place but, I honestly don't want to think about it anymore.
Nardy ~ I'm not sure what your dreams about your relationships is all about. I DO like the fact that you've had similar dreams 3 consecutive nights in a row...that's pretty badass. |

I would say that 90% of my dreams are someone other than myself. I also never have nightmares. I honestly cannot even remember the last time I had a dream that was frightening in the slightest. Frustrating or unpleasant - sure - but nothing that was frightening.
1)Do you dream in colour, or black and white? I imagine it is in color - although I have to say I`ve never really paid much attention. As I`ve never noticed, I am going to assume that everything is in the same sort of color scheme as real life. 2)Are you able to realize that it's just a dream while you are dreaming? If I am dreaming as myself and something incredibly irritating happens - for example something like a car accident happens and dealing with things after it looms - I can wake myself up. Something clicks as "This is NOT really happening" and I can push myself out of sleep to end the annoyance. As far as lucid dreaming - actually realizing it`s a dream and controlling events - I don`t think I can do so as the moment I realize it`s a dream I tend to wake myself up. I can influence what I dream about by coming up with a plot of sorts and starting the sequence in my head just before drifting to sleep. Quote:
Another thing that I often notice is when in water, things don`t feel wet - and when underwater I will breathe... And then something will click and tell me "this can`t be real" so I wake up. It always disappoints me as swimming underwater in perfect comfort would be a really great dream to have. Quote:

I often dream that I am flying-- they are my favourite dreams. recently I keep dreaming of getting lost or losing some thing.
Dreams fascinate me-- just wish I could remember them-- plenty of plots for stories if we could really remember. No I can't control them at all-- Just wish I could record them. Years ago I used to dream about being good at things that in real life I could not do. One was being a fantastic swimmer and the other being a great horse rider. I can do both now but not terribly well. Hate the feeling when I am desperate to take a jumper off over my head but cannot, usually wake up with bed clothes tangled around me. |
I don't really keep track of the colors in my dreams. But the dream I always have is when I'm falling out of the sky. When I wake up, it feels as though the breath gets knocked out of my lungs. It's scary. LOL.

I dream in color with surround sound and even sensation such as touch, though not allways with the touch. I have fallen a great hight and hit bottom and walked away, ( left a good sized crater though), been eaten by dino's, been shot, been zaped by some wizard and his lighting bolt..at highschool graduation of all places.

My weird dreams take place when I doze off in class due to part anemia but mostly lack of sleep, this only happens at the end of the say.
The dreams are like of rush of people saying the weirdest stuff. |
Thank you !!
Wow... I enjoyed all of your stories, thank you for sharing!
I had this dream... I was with my friends from Australia who had no interest in Japan at all, but they were all fluent in Japanese and said something to me, so I wanted to tell them that I was impressed! in Japanese すご~い!but all the words came out from my mouth were all English and I felt great cos I was speaking English totally fluently! and suddenly they said I had to give up my passport and give it to them since I can't speak Japanese any more, and I agreed (in that dream!) so I was looking for my passport in my bag, but it's not there. I said "Oh no, I can't find it, I lost it!" then I looked up, there was a police man or someone in a uniform (very cute) said "You! Speak Japanese!" so I tried to say things in Japanese to him, but I couldn't... oh it was hard... |

Wow. I hope I never have a dream like that. Sounds like you had a "Lost in translation" dream. |
Or form hearing this little song for the sirst time . . .
"Shame shame shame, I don't want to go to Mexico no more more more, There's a big fat police man at the door door door If he grab you by the collar Girl you better holler I don't want to go to Mexico no more more more . . SHAME!" |
The best dream I had, was the one that gaved me the chance to say goodbye for the last time to my grandparents.
The worst one, is a remember of the bus wreck it happened when i was very small (about 4 years old), I don't know why, but it still comes back once in a while, and even though I'm a third party in the dream, just looking from up at the small me, it still gives me shivers and feels bad. For the questions, my dreams are full of color, but nightmares are mostly black and white. When i dream i mostly know that I'm dreaming, so I can change what im doing in the dream. Tasting, hearing, smelling is common in my dreams. I even tried things I didn't know already how they should taste (for example, squid rings, octopus), but later when i got the chance to eat that, i found out that it was exactly like in the dream. It must be something in the DNA that tells us this things, dunno. Greetings, Catalin C. |
1)Do you dream in color, or black and white?
Always in color and always very vivid 2)Are you able to realize that it's just a dream while you are dreaming? When or if you do, can you do whatever you want in that dream? Usually i can figure out I'm dreaming but once i have i usually wake up Usually my dreams are affected by the TV which sucks because i mostly watch horror movies as well as a condition known as sleep paralysis. When i manage to turn off the TV. My dreams usually start off simple enough but i find myself thrown from scene to scene random nonsense When sleep paralysis sets in i find my mind waking ahead of my own body. It's the closest thing to being vegetable there is. You have full thought ability you can hear and understand everything around you but cannot move. Your entire body is numb and you are trapped inside of it. Breathing begins to feel harder and harder. Sometimes you can gain mobility of a finger, I find moving it move and more seems to reanimate my body until i am able to come out of it and move again. Sometimes dreams mix with the sleep paralysis and even when my consciousness is awake i am still dreaming making nightmares and dreams appear extremely real. Real enough i can feel it if i am touched or hit. |
On the one hand I really love dreams, on the other hand I hate them...
dreams that "just" show the feelings and emotions or problems I've been dealing with in the past few days, weeks, month....
Dreams that come true, "visions", dreams you CAN't wake up from...
There's definitely to much I hate about dreams.... I'm able to remember my dreams every day. I dream in color.. And yes, there are times when I feel that I'm just dreaming...But then all 5-senses are active, you feel everything "real" like pain, or taste things like your favorite food <3 for example<3 ;D I'm a Dreamer, yeah <3 greetz~ Raku,. |
My dreams tend to be pretty epic adventures. I, however, am never involved in them. It's more like watching a movie, and I really should write some of these ideas around so I won't forget them, because they greatly entertain me.
Most of my dreams seem to involve desolate landscapes. Broken down houses with no occupants, run down factories with no workers, desert islands with no inhabitants. Save for those characters that enter my dream and wander around in it- not ones that I invented on purpose. They just kind of appear with random looks and personality traits. Only once I was in my dreams. People called me 'Mama Bear', and asked me for advice, but never actually listened. Go fig! |
How fascinating it is to read some of these messages about your dreams.
If we could recall them all a fortune could be made surely-- from good and unusual ideas and occurrences. The human brain is incredible isn't it. |
