Japanese Festivals And Traditions -

An interesting question was asked elsewhere about certain traditions or culture.
It would be good to learn more about the festivals and the reasons for them etc. tanabata and omikuju. A kind person gave us websites and information about both. Any ideas about other festivals or traditions such as the doll festival?
