Fake nails are nasty..

dogsbody70 12-04-2010 10:58 PM

mmm I must confess I dislike them but they seem to be big business nowadays the same as cosmetic surgery is.

For a long time I have been wanting to get acrylics done on my nails... Mainly because I am tired of my nails constantly breaking because they are naturally brittle... But I haven't done so because they do get fungus and bacteria and all sort of nasty crap...

NanteNa 12-04-2010 11:15 PM

People will keep fixing their 'flaws' in all ways possible for as long as they can..

It's probably due to malnutrition, look up the proper vitamins for your nails. I think vitamin A is the key...

I don't like fake nails either. As NanteNa said, they're nasty...

Calcium, Iron, Protein, and Vitamin B... It's probably the Iron and Protein that I am lacking, as I don't partake in those as much as I should (which the iron is no surprise as I am borderline anemic)... lol... I have purchased a green tea extract based nail strengthener and I will be using that along with looking into repairing what damage I've done not eating right... At least I know it is not the vitamins that is an issue... I follow a very strict vitamin regimen (that is unfortunately lacking proper doses of Iron)... It is just the minerals I'm lacking in my diet, lol...

No. That definitely turns me off.

If it's not overboard it's fine, the ones that are distracting are no good.
But something that looks relatively normal is fine.
It's a good way to shake a nail-biting habit too!

That's reassuring.
I'd add two thing if I may: to absorb iron it's necessary to absorb enough vitamin C, and you left it out, maybe because it was obvious...
And be careful with the green tea, it's a very affective diuretic, so it can be wrong when you lacking minerals... and also it has tannic acid which blocks the iron absorption...

I do not care for them because some women care too much about them and are afraid to work because they do not want to break one since they paid $40 to get them. Also why would I find fingernails attractive in any form. I mean does anyone say " I love your nails they turn me on"?

dogsbody70 12-05-2010 03:08 PM

I am afraid I dislike these false nails very much although its obvious that if you're into designer nails with gorgeous designs that can be skilfully done might be attractive-- But not to me.

It seems to be really big business so there is a demand for them.

I cannot bear my own own nails to be long either.

No doubt the artificial ones could make a good defensive weapon LOL.

I have no idea why they should turn you on. Yes I can believe that they can be alien to work-- so easily damaged I imagine.

Yeah, I left out the vitamin C on purpose... That's one I take regularly anyways and just assumed it was a given...

As for the green tea, I forgot to mention it's just a brush on thing, like nail polish, so there is no ingestion of it... I'm thinking it can't have a negative effect that way. (although I could be wrong... Wouldn't be the first time, lol)... Thanks for the advice! :-)

Ghap 12-05-2010 03:40 PM

nope not attractive in the slightest.

missprincess 12-05-2010 07:37 PM
