Teaching Middle School Students Japanese

Yep, this s my back up job while I write manga! I want to know if I only need a bachelor's degree or do I need to sign up for JET or something similar as well?

Help is much appreciated! :pinkbow:

If you mean teaching non Japanese students Japanese, you'd need to get a degree (at least a bachelor's, but I think a lot of teachers usually have master's), and then go through the proper certifications that first prove that you're a qualified teacher, and second that you're fluent and qualified to teach a foreign language. You have to pass a test for that.

Thank you and what is a "qualified teacher"?

Truthfully, the Japanese taught in American public schools below college level is a joke. I don't think you need to know much Japanese to teach middle school Japanese in America :/

If you're talking about a public school, there are several certifications you'd need to become a teacher. Many potential teachers start off doing assistant class teaching or being substitute teachers for practice before going full time. You'd need to graduate with some sort of teaching degree, and also have credentials to prove that you're able to teach a foreign language proficiently.

If you are going to teach middle school students in America you will need a teaching certification. To get a teachng certification you will need at least a bachelors degree. Many teachers have a bachelors degree in education, or an undergraduate degree of another type combined with a masters in education.
