Who's Who Japan: Advanced

Have fun answering these questions about famous Japanese persons. Feel free to answer just as many as you want to.

1. Who is the famous daughter of this singer?

2. These comedians started as a band. What is their group name and which famous British band did they perform as an opening act at the British band's first ever concert in Tokyo?

3. What is the current occupation of the ex-comedian in the orange-colored attire in the video (0:30 ~)?

4. Which famous Shogun is this world-class figure-skater the descendant of?

2 - Green Leaves (はっぱ隊) ?

2. The drifters, and they made a 40 second performance for The Beatles as an opening act of the Tokyo concert in 1966.

3. I'm not sure...(is he still acting?--Jyunji Inagawa? Cause now he makes horror movies after he participated in comedies...) The other one is Takeshi Kitano...

Thanks masaegu, it was fun.
I think I've figured out the others too, but I don't want to spoil all the fun... :ywave:

Oh wow, *laughs* Oda's the only one I know anything about. Random stab in the dark, if he's the direct descendant of a Shogun then I'm guessing the name was kept down the male line, so Oda is probably the descendant of Oda?

Thanks for your reply.

Junji Inagawa sure is in that video but I am referring to the guy in orange that talks with Kitano from about 0:30-1:10 until Inagawa appears.

This one was like a bonus question, wasn't it? :p I should have been more careful in my selection of the video.

*amused* I promise I would have known his name even without seeing the title. My friend has something of a crush on him, so I have duly heard ~lots~ about Oda-san~ I think I've even seen that particular video before too.

I completely under-estimated your knowledge, then. :o

I was actually hoping someone would answer question #1 if not #3.

Me too, I'm curious to know who the daughter is. It's not like someone world famous is it? Yoko ono or something? Doesn't look quite old enough...

The mom herself is 59 now, making her much younger than Yoko Ono. The daughter in question was probably the first teenage multi-millionaire in Japanese history.

Whoops. That's true, I forgot Yoko Ono must be pretty old now.
Well, I don't want to spam the thread with random guesses, hope someone else knows though!

Mua ha ha, I found it.
It's Utada Hikaru's mom! I think she sings more than fairly well! I mean Utada Junko, aka Fuji Keiko, though I also like Utada Hikaru!

#4 is Nobunaga.

I should know... I attended the Olympics and saw him skate.

masaegu 01-24-2011 02:57 AM

Thanks for your participation, everyone! We have got 3 out of 4 now.

The guy in question #3 is now in the position that less than 50 people in Japan are in.

Hint: Politics.

Ah, prefectures! He's a prefectural governor? That's quite a career leap.

I like how in the picture of him as a comedian he's not smiling, and in the picture of him as a governor he is!

There are pics of him as a comedian that I could instantly get banned for posting here, believe me. :D

He is a Waseda grad and is extremely well-read. He is like the first pupil of Beat Takeshi, who only takes two types for pupils. The very intelligent and the complete opposite.
