Saw them all, except for 127 hours.

The Fighter was my favorite by far.

Why not, I thought it was moving to say the least. A movie doesn't have to have an original plot to be good. I've seen plenty of real good movies that had a plain storyline with no surprising end.

Avatars story was generic, mild, boring and uninspired!

In many ways the whole film reminded me of "The Wizard of Oz" as a blatant assault on the (visual) senses.

Ok, enough with the Avatar hating.
---------------------------------

I watched True Grit the other day. I have to say I was quite disappointed. The Coens can do so much better...

I don't think I'll be watching anymore of the movies up for nomination before Sunday (except for maybe 127 Hours), so here's my bet for the Oscars:

Best Motion Picture: Black Swan

Actor in a leading role: Colin Firth (I have yet to the see The King's Speech but I've heard he does a great job and I believe he's gonna get it).

Actress in a leading role: Natalie Portman

Actor in a supporting role: Christian Bale

Actress in a supporting role: Amy Adams (not really sure about this one).

Directing: David Fincher (I like Darren Aronofsky very much and I'll be happy if he gets it, but I have a feeling it'll be Fincher, he's just too good)

Animated Feature Film: Toy Story 3

Art Direction: Inception

Cinematography: Inception

Costume Design: Alice in Wonderland

Documentary Feature: Exit through the Gift Shop

Film Editing: Black Swan

Foreign Language Film: Biutiful

Makeup: The Wolfman

Visual Effects: Inception

Writing (adapted screenplay): The Social Network

Writing (original screenplay): The King's Speech (or Inception maybe)

As for the Sound awards and short-animated films, no idea.

Ok, hold on here, I liked Avatar, it was decent story wise, if retold a million times. It was "Dances with wolves" in space. The special effects made the film seem alive wich perhaps gave the story more weight than it deserved.

However, I don't think it's in the top 10 films this year so eh..Sorry Suki, your letting your feelings for Cameron cloud your judgement a little.

I won't deny that. However, I'm soon to be a graduate in Film Studies so I believe this entitles me to a pretty valid opinion. Personal preferences aside.

GUYS! Aren't you nervous? I am! This is one of my favorite nights of the year! Enjoy the Ceremony!

Which is shocking seeing your opinion on Avatar.

I won the Oscar pool I was in, so that made me happy. Not a lot of surprises.
