Heh, I also know they weren't "friends", thats just a way to write connected on the net. I was in a dark period in my life and developed a habit of reaching people through that network, and also MySpace.
About a year and a half I "worked" to reach that "target" and can't remember why and for what, it seems meaningless now. Maybe I needed something to help me pass over my pain... I'm not sure.

PS:In the beginning, they didn't have any restrictions regarding almost anything, as they wanted as much members to register to reach the floating point ("money wise").

Reverse psychology, "dear Watson", reverse psychology.
"Manganese? Is that manga language?" - lol?

One thing I do notice though is that many people can be organised and that in some of these Parties where someone invites all their friends to their own house can cause havoc. it obviously is a way of communicating and getting news spread in a way theat before would have been much harder. protests, revolutions, crowd gathering is an example of this. In a University no doubt you can know many people which is useful for organising also and cheaper than having to advertise in papers etc. Obviously in a school, college or UNi situation where you come into contact with many people many of you will know each other. I remember my gr children on Messenger-- so many saying hi and that was about it-- used to seem odd to me when she saw them every day at school.

I am sure it could be a good way for lonely people to communicate also. I used to like the CB radio where you could chat with others but you did really chat-- but also had to be extremely careful of giving personal details because anyone could always be listening to conversations.
it too could be dangerous. It was also a lifeline to the many really lonely folk out there. Before the days of the internet. Not everybody can afford a computer of course.

There is such a gap between my generation and your own and sometimes it takes a lot of adjusting to what your generation takes for granted--

I like to choose my real friends--maybe there should be a different word for internet acquaintances.

Miss Misa it sounds as though you live a very fulfilled and active life so that is great. Maybe thats one of the perks of being a part of university. Many opportunities to meet a great variety of people.

I noticed that Nick Clegg refused to apologise for reneging on his promise about students fees when in discussion with some students.

I don't actually care how many facebook or internet friends people add-- but it just seems weird to say they are friends in such numbers.

What I call a friend is someone who is always there for you in every situation and vice versa.

I wonder what the next ten or twenty years will bring forth? I doubt I'll be around to discover that. LOL
I am in college, going to university in August. Thank you for an actual reason. hehehe

I'm also on Twitter, LastFM (Music social network), a number of forums and PlayStation Network.....so I'm very connected. lol

I also have my 'Looking for:' bit of my profile on Facebook set to 'Friendship, Dating, A relationship, Networking'. The 'networking' bit in particular, shows you what to add people outside of the area you know. It might come in useful one day. Look at the guy who went halfway around the world for free, using favours from people following him on Twitter

No, that was a different guy. The guy I'm on about is this one: Telegraph - Man travels around world for free...

Facebook is actually a very useful tool if you used correctly and not abuse. I dont have any friends from JF on FB but wouldnt mind some. Let me know if anyone wants to be friends.

I love Twitter. Best move I ever made joining it. I've a number of Japanese followers, which could prove useful in a number of years
