Traveling to Tokyo then Oita-ken in summer

I've been advised not to.

I saw another post talking about concerns for traveling in April, but I kind of want a clearer answer if I should have any heads up in the aftermath of this disaster

I have said it again, but a lot depends on what happens at the nuclear plants.

My guess is by then Tokyo will be fine, and nothing has changed in Oita, it is far from the epicenter.

True on Oita, but iunno. My boyfriend and others are saying that the economy will be shit and that is actually the main reason they are not recommending it. -_-;

you do realize there'll be a massive amount of jobs created to rebuild, right?

the economy (if anything like kobe 95 quake) will come out better than before the earthquake :eek:

and also, your commerce will aid in helping their economy. i don't really understand why you wouldn't want to visit due to those reasons

I tried bringing up that idea...but...I dunno. They're so insistent on what they are saying
I guess they just don't want me to go. :P

Why would a bad economy affect your decision?

It would only affect it for tokyo, not oita...

I brought up to my boyfriend what Kenmei said, and he said "Tell Chile and Haiti that." when I mentioned economy could rise with jobs being created

then mentioned tokyo and honda shutting down their companies and making a sarcastic comment, "and tourism will save japan. :/"

Chile and Haiti are not Japan. Economically, on different planets.

But my question still stands. How would a poor economy affect your trip to Tokyo?
