If Im going to show to them that I can do it, then I will take their challenge. PREPARATION. STUDY.. if your parents are still providing you, then take it and use it, you have the right for it.

The world is cruel, so cruel. You have to prepare to face it.

That's what I was trying to say :P Everyone feels rebellious. But we get over it. IF people REALLY hate thiers parents at the age between 12-17ish, they can't really do much can they? They'd just stay at home then at 18 they'd leave. No mater if the parents give you respect or not, you still need ot give them respect ( even if you hate them)

My parents are good people
Therefore I respect them.
If they were complete gits I probably wouldn't, or maybe I would be a git myself then & I would have that wierd can of respect idiots have for each other :confused:

You guys wanna talk about respect?

Fine! :D Respect has to be earned, not forced, onto another person regardless of age, status and/or authority.

Your parents are responsible for you, they brought you into this world. You didn't ask for it. Therefore, they have to provide for you. If they aren't good role models, how the hell can they demand respect and politeness from you? You'll probably pick up their bad ways as well. YES, we all learn from our parents cuz it is during our childhood that we get influenced greatly by them. Just take a good hard look at one of the recent Japanese articles. The mother abandoned her son just because he was getting too hard to handle and she was deep in debt. She put her own life as first priority over her son. Can you even bear to tolerate this kinda parents? Personally, if a parent demands respect from his or her own child when they can't even begin to define the meaning of "respect", it's just plain dumb.

Don't get me wrong, I love my parents and they're awesome but I'm already 17 and have always lived my life by looking at things from a 360 degree perspective, so from my point of view, if we have good, logical statements backing us up, why do we have to do as others say? According to my experience, the one who has the better reasons is the one who is right, not people who base their theories on traditions, personal feelings and stereotyping.

Oh :o

If I'm nt wrong, this has developed into some sorta debate, hasn't it? I don't understand why some people are insulting each other =/ I'm gonna have to take matters up to a mod if I see it happening again ^^;

it has, it was created for that purpose. But I think this turn out to be a healthy debate.. I don't think there was any offended party.. as far I can see that is.. ;)

Hmm... Ok.. if you say so, big sis :D

Oops! We're derailing XD

Nard. I agree. Those types of parents you would just go to a social worker if you had one.

But think about it, I'm sure we ALL have felt this resentment towards our parents one time in our life. What some kids fail to see these days, are th stress our parents go through, and people in stress might do stuff silly once or twice. Heck my mum even shouted at me in the middle of the street that she wish she never had me. But she was stressed then, and was having problems with my father. I understood and forgave her. All kids see these days are their parents somehow holding them back form life, or the parents are always in the wrong. But we are kids. We hate taking blame for anything. So thats normal.

How many times have you lot has something told/done to you by your parents. At first you thought it was wrong. And went off in a strop or walked away with resentment in your heart. Then you thought about it, or done it even without their permission, and then it goes hay wire and you realise "they were right"?
