The Nova Echo is an electronically driven space-age rock/pop band from Asheville, a city in the mountains of North Carolina. At its core, the music has infectious pop origins but combines powerful guitars, ethereal synths, and complex vocal harmonies to create a space age, post rock sound. The band is made up of five individuals, all with their own unique backgrounds in music and performance. Front-man and songwriter Caleb Hanks has been playing music since he was a child and has been in multiple rock and pop bands with regional success in North Carolina. Around 2003, he started producing his own electronic pop music as a side-project and by 2007 had written and recorded three full-length solo albums, as well as numerous unreleased b-sides. In 2007, he decided to pursue this side-project full-time. Hanks contacted his long-time friend and local music producer Evan Bradford to help him construct a rock/pop-oriented band around his electronic solo work. After a few lineup changes the members were solidified, and the band now consists of five individuals, all with years of experience playing and performing in other bands and projects. Hanks and Bradford handle front-man and guitar/synth duties respectively, while, Matt Hixon (bass), Lee Brooks (keys), and Travis Moss (drums) complete the band’s lineup. After releasing their debut full-length album in October of 2009, and the five song “Voyager” EP in August of 2010, the band reentered the studio in the Spring of this year to craft another full-length expanding on the core characteristics the band portrays: hope, positivity, and the feelings on love, longing and companionship that a lonely space traveler might feel in the insurmountable distance of deep space. The Nova Echo will be embarking on several tours throughout the Summer and Fall in support of their new release. |
