Gift giving internationally to a new love interest - 07-07-2011, 04:23 AM

Hello!

I have a new love interest who lives in Japan. I am sending him something handmade that I do for a living here in America...sugar flowers (so sorry, I do not know how to translate into Japanese) which are very delicate and fragile. I worry that they will be crushed in customs. He lives in Nerima-ku, Tokyo, and I live in Austin, Texas, USA. Would anyone have any ideas on something other than fragile things to send him that he would enjoy from Texas/USA in general as a small gift? We are not "close" yet. I do not like to assume the likes of others, but rather have suggestions, as I have not visited Japan in more than 12 years. Thanks so much for helping

A cowboy hat would be cool. They like things that others can identify as "American".
