As far as normal book authors, I would definitely say that Emily Rodda is my first fave (she wrote the Deltora Quest series--awesome series, plus Rowan of Rin--also cool, and the Faerie Realm--more of a girl series, I think). Next would be Christopher Paolini, who wrote Eragon, Eldest, and is coming out with the 3rd book really soon! Can't wait! :D

Holly Black
Amelia Atwater-Rhodes |
Stephen King is my hero. Seriously, he's got to be the more amazing writer ever.
The runner-up is totally Jodi Picoult. Alot of her books are centered around law and legal stuff, but it's more interesting than it sounds. "My Sister's Keeper" broke my heart into a million little bits. And when it comes to manga, I LOVE Tsugumi Ohba and Hiromu Arakawa. Also, I agree with the others when they say JK Rowling is a great writer too. I admit, i've got so much Potter Pride, it's almost unhealthy. And don't get me started on JRR Tolkiens works..... Ah darn, i've got too many authors to list.. |
Laura Joh Rowland. She writes so well. All of her books revolve around a detective in the Edo period. I have just discovered Sujita Massey aswell, she writes some great books too.

Gabriel García Márquez is my favorite author, as well as my grandmother's. She gave me her copy of Cien años se soledad (One Hundred Years of Solitude) for my birthday last year and I keep it with me all the time. My grandma highlighted passages and made notes on the sides of the pages, which I go back and read.
|
I'd have to say Haruki Murakami :D his novels are amazing.
|
J. D. Salinger
Anne Rice Stephen King Alexandre Dumas |
I usually don't read by authors, but I couldn't help but become addicted to Ellen Hopkins' writing style (wrote Crank, Glass, Burned, Impulse, and Identical) :vsign:
|
Anne Rice
Stephen King Catherine Coulter Cassie Edwards Michael Barnette (who is a friend of mine) |

Tolkien (when I have enough brain power to read prose that dense) F. Paul Wilson (Go Repairman Jack!!!) Colleen McCullough Jean Craighead George Elliot Roosevelt Very Little of Dean Koontz (Go Odd Thomas!!!) Many more but all I can think of right off the bat. I can think of more I don't care for than do... ;) |
Neil Gaiman, and Philip Roth. Simple as that. And a couple of others whose names I've forgotten.
|
J.K. Rowling
Stephenie Meyer Elie Wiesel Charles Dickens Jane Austen |
