Help to translate a (difficult) japanese poem.

This is my first post here. Sorry for coming just to ask for help. The point is that I'm trying to translate a Japanese poem in to English and I'm finding a lot of difficulties. It seems to be a very difficult poem, or it's something conceptual or I don't know. I'm very interested in knowing what it says so I'll be able to write it under the picture so everybody here (everybody speaks English) could understand it.

日本の高名な僧侶であった藤井日達が、白寿（99歳）の� ��に、ロンドンに仏舎利塔の地鎮祭に参加した時に書い� ��ものではないかと思われるが、わからない文字が多く� ��翻訳困難。

The letters are old ones, and I'm not completely sure what is written in it.
Therefore I cannot translate it well.

This was written by a famous Japanese Buddhist priest, "Nittatsu Ｆｕｊｉｉ　(1885-1985)."

It might be wrong, but it might says that:
"Praying for the world piece, our Buddhist tower is erected in London, when I am 99 years old. "

Yes. This poem was written by Nichidatsu Fujii for the occasion of the opening the Peace Pagoda in London when he was 99 years old.

So, do you think it's a poem or it is just a few words telling that The Peace Pagoda was erected??

I think it's a kind of poem, and the context is talking about the Peace Pagoda.

This poem doesn't completely follow the rule of Japanese traditional poem style, haiku(俳句）, waka(和歌）, or senryu(川柳).
Yet, it's still a poem.

宝塔

世界平和の祈りあつめて

宝塔に

白寿ことほぎ

倫敦を立つ

…ではないでしょうか。

そうだったんですね。
「宝」と考えると、確かに、文脈にぴったりと合います ね。でも、もっと複雑な漢字に見えたんですよね。旧字 体なんですね？

『ロンドンを発つ』だったら、わかるんですが、『立つ 』っていうのはleaveとは違和感があるんですよね。和尚� ��が９９歳になられて、モウロクなさっておられて、漢� ��をお取り違えあそばしたんでしょうか。

遠いロンドンに　立つ（９９歳で自分が遠い異国に立つ という意味と、宝塔が建つ　という意味のシャレ）

的な意味ならどうかな、と思ったのですが、いかんせん 、ひらがなが読めないので、わかりません。

藤井日達の年譜を見ますと、ところどころに「宝塔」と いう言葉が出てきます。他にウ冠の付く塔はないので、 おそらくは宝塔で間違いないかと。

「ことほぎ」の「こ」には確信があったのですが（屋台 のたこ焼き屋の暖簾で覚えました）、「宝塔に」、「倫 敦を」は勢いで推測しました。

時間ができたので調べてみましたら、「宝塔は」が正しいようです。意味的には変わらないでしょうが 。

「倫敦を」の「を」はわかりません。変体仮名のサイト で探しましたが、F345というコードが振られた文字が近� �ようで、しかし意味が通りません。

ウィキでみると、『は』と下の方の例の『に』の字と同 じようでありますので、
ひょっとすると、

宝塔

世界平和の祈りあつめて
宝塔は
白寿ことほき（ぎ）
倫敦に立つ

ではないかと思います。

(『濁点は省略してつけない』というルールもあるので� �よね。)

I've come to tell you that finally and suddenly and for surprise I found a magazine talking about this London Peace Pagoda and Nichidatsu and his poem in japanese and... you know what?? and also the translation by the author, Nichidatsu.

A friend of me gave this magazine to another person and until two days ago it didn't get back to me again.

So, here you have the translation we are going to use for being Nichidatsu's words.

""" A precious stupa
bringing together prayers for peace
appears in London
in celebration of my 100th year """
