Mechanical Pencils
Hi,
i have tons of japanese friends here in America and i have noticed and all of them have mechanicalas pencils, such as PILOT DR.GRIP, OXI-GEL..what is so great about this pencils? they are 2 expensive.. also many girls like to have cute pencils and ,,,well i think they spent 2 much money for just cute pencil and school stuff.. please also POST PICS |
Japan isn't the only one. :/
It's asia in general. I'm Korean and I love cute pencils, erasers, pens, paper, etc. It's only natural. It's like guys like 'cool' stuff. I had a mechanical pen call a Jedo2000. Love<3 It broke like two years ago D: Had a nice life that pencil. |
Mechanical pencils =
Constant tight writing/drawing; No sharpening needed; Cleaner; Saves trees. |
ooooh! i love pencils:rheart: i have a shine silver mechanical pencil that i love to use:pinksong:
|
What's that? The sharpo enpensu?
You are correct. Every student in my schools carries them and erasers. I surprised you didn't mention the pencil bags. It's always entertaining to see a twelve year old with a playboy or pot leaf pencil bag when neither they or the teacher have any idea what that represents in the US. |
One other thing, have you noticed how they are always using pencils versus in the US I switched to using strictly pens unless it was a bubble sheet test.
Japanese don't like crossing mistakes out. That is why when I go to the post office I have to fill out like three forms to send money home because I keep messing up. |
"Sharpen" is what they`re called around here.
Elementary school students aren`t allowed to use them in school.... And neither are *some* middle schoolers. (Depends on the school) So they have a bit of appeal during those years. You know, anything you`re not allowed to use becomes cool - so everyone switches over to them basically overnight when they are allowed to. For one thing, they`re cleaner... Another really big thing is the clarity of the writing. As you go up in grades, you have to (obviously) write smaller and smaller. However, the kanji all have to be clear and precise or you risk getting points marked off. Sure, you could keep sharpening your normal pencil all the time to keep a good point on it, but that`s a lot of work. Quote:

mechanical pencils are awesome!! i wish i had the use for them more around here, definetely right about the usa, the standards of having to use pens can be such a pain!! not to mention they are much more widely available than pencil can be.. sad really
|
i like to use mechanical pencils for drawing out things. yes, they do save trees, and the lines are sharper.
|
I <3 my mechanical pencils. they're the best. I love how i save trees, and if the point breaks, no need to get up and disrupt the class. I think whoever invented them are genisus!
|
i loves meh mechanical pencils :D
some have rubbers on the end which is really useful lol. |
haha..my sister is a collector of mechanical pencils..i dunno why she likes to have lots of all kinds..i also have some..but a few..not like my sis..she has like 20..different brands
Oxi-gel, Dr.Grip, also collects erares like mono..lol |
I like mechanical pencils.. I just havent gotten out to get any lately. This reminds me to put it on my list! Wahaha! I tend to use erasable pen. The ink usually looks bad, but hey look! It's a pen that erases. Seriously, what could be better? ... -.- |
cool..whats the brand;s name??
|
|
I pretty much stopped using normal pencils years ago. I prefer mechanical pencils aswell, for the reasons already mentioned.
|
That's fine by me. Let them use it. XD
I personally am very picky, and I almost always refuse to write if I'm not using a m. pencil. :] |
I remember doing that when a couple years back...they were expensive, i had those neat mechanical pencils that you shake for lead...and people were always asking me ..."dude why're you shaking your pencil" and i always go "well dude, it's how i get lead out"...they're always stunned after...but yea i gave up using pencils ever since high school started...for last four years of high school i went writing with ball point pens...hooray for papermate Xtend pens :) cant live without em now.

Pencils
Mechanical pencils are more fun, more expensive, and more environmentally friendly. I just like them, even if they are pricey, and you can never find the right size lead to refill them. :rheart: Maybe they have more pros than cons.
|
I detest normal pencils. They just end up getting sloppy. Since I'm one of those shy types I refuse to actually stand up to sharpen my pencil, and just sit there.
Mechanical pencils are definitely my first choice. Clean, sharp pointed edge, don't have to sharpen it down to a small stub, reusable. When I got to high school I remember being so excited to use pens. Being left handed I'd end up smudging the side of my hand somehow when writing. That's when mechanical pencils and I formed a tight bond. |
