Let's stop Global Warming!!

-sigh- Let's Stop Global Warming!! Did anyone went to the Live Earth concert? Ouu, I wish I did T_T. But seriously, we have to help our enviorment. This planet could come to an end in a few years if we dont do something. Some countries will start freezing, rain will turn into acid and much more horrible things. And to think it already started. A horrible future is coming our way, and I dont think is just that our generation and the one coming after us have to suffer because of something we did, because of something we have the chance stop!

So let's STOP being ignorant and START doing something!!!

AllICanSay 07-16-2007 09:35 PM

I wished I could go to the Tokyo Show but to bad I couldn't T__T
ayaka and Ai Otsuka performed there. I wish I could see theme live

pixuli 07-16-2007 09:43 PM

Many people don't care about the global warming or take it too lightly. But I do care! Even if Global warming is a good thing to Finland but not to the world!
we have these electricy saving lamps (I don't know what are they called) and I don't leave things on stand by. I always shut the lights if I don't need them and take short showers with cool water. I use public transformers (I'm not sure are they called like that) and usually never use car...simply because it is broken and nobody cares to fix it... there's no need to car anyway :D I recycle too.

I watched live earth! It was good, I even got to the atmosphere.
It was fun.

HappyRiceBall 07-16-2007 09:51 PM

I agree with you! I've actually met people like that. -scractches back of the head- Global Warming is a good thing for Finland? .......wow...... xD .lol. Well, here in Puerto Rico things are HOT!!! I mean, it's always warm here but now it's more than usual. Though today the weather was cloudy and the temperature is actually nice :3 me liky. xD

pixuli 07-16-2007 10:14 PM

Yeah, if the worst happens I'm sure lots of peoples will move to here : D It is now warm almost hot here but it's good for farmers and plants.
The only problem in global warming for Finland would be winter. snow, santa claus and things like that give a lot of tourism to Finland.
But already last year Finland didn't even had a proper winter, the snow lasted 3 days in south and there was troubles with snow in north too where santa claus lives. They say, that this years summer will be the hottest ever. ´o`
I'm already sweating and I'm from Spain!

HappyRiceBall 07-16-2007 10:29 PM

daaaamn! Hay dios mio....how horrible! Well here it's like a roller coaster xD When it goes UP UP UP the days are super hot! and when it goes DOWN DOWN the days are nice [like today] .lol. xDDD - man...I need to go to dah beach.....xD ooookay that was soooo random!!!! xDDD .lmao.

Maku 07-16-2007 10:43 PM

I would like to just say that it's not our fault, and that it started over a hundred years ago.

HappyRiceBall 07-16-2007 11:03 PM

Oh, I know it started a loooong time ago, but we've just got out of hand with everything. And I'm not saying that it was us, by that I mean our generation, but people that are part of this century. Studies have proved that from 2002 to 2005 have been the hottest in the last two centuries. So all I'm saying is that why have a chance to put a stop to this.

IamKira 07-17-2007 12:03 AM

my god........................Why don't you stop being so arrogant.....global warming is a farse....it is a political scheme and that's all........awww....do you feel hot??....it must be global warming, and not the fact that it's summer!!!.............why don't we stop global poverty or crime instead.........something that would actually do something for us???....and, I'm not going to come back to this thread, so there is no need to debate me on this and try to chnage my veiws..........
:rheart:

Suki 07-17-2007 08:27 AM

Agreed. Everyone's acting like it's the fucking end of the world, well then stop complaining and go do something about it. Plus there're plenty of other problems just as important but no! global warming is first cause we don't want people to know about starvation, poverty, drugs, slavety, etc.

...this thread makes me giggle :D I doubt that todays governments are not focussing on starvation and other drama's you mentioned. You can't deny that this is also a subject that needs attention though if we want our kids kids kids to have kids :mtongue: The concerts were nice and a lot of great music was played, so Im happy. :D I dont plan to put any kids on this world so I'm not much concerned to what happens to it after I pass away though..(If reincarnation does appear to be true, Im f****ed, but I'm not going let that worry me :D)

Salvanas 07-17-2007 09:34 AM

I agree with Iamkira.

Global warming is just a political farse, and it's just propoganda.

The warming and cooling of seasons has happened through the millions of years we have lived through. Even before Carbon dioxide was released from using fuel.

Here's an example. After WW2, or was it WW1? Either one, after it the industrial era began. Millions of stuff were being made and MANY factories were built and used. Many more than there were today. Now, you would think "The heat must have shot up here due the HUGE amounts of CO2 being released into the air!"

But guess what? It didn't. No it didn't even stay the same. It FELL.

CO2 has never affected the weather in the past, why would it do so now?

EDIT: Although, however much I think Global Warming is a farse, I prefer it to stay. Why you might ask?

The Global Warming thing has become a HUGE industry in itself. It that was to break away, MILLIONS of people would lose jobs.

Although, the bad thing to that, is that they are using up money and resources on stupids like this and not spending them on anything more useful. Like the things Suki said.

I would have agree with him. It feels cool almost cold.

TalnSG 05-16-2008 03:05 PM

Hmm, I remember my nanny using soe of this same logic when they wanted to put electricity into the homes in my village in England. "If it was good enough for George III, its good enoguh for me". So since humans survived the Ice Age we don't need to worry about the reverse.

But what about the the seas warming and generating more typhoons, hurricane and tornados. What about rising temperatureas and deforestation causing land shifts - as in giant mud slides and earthquakes.

Guess these documented effects of a changing climate killing millions and leave even more to die of starvation and pestilence doesn't matter, because its all politics, right?

Ok, fine. I am old enough now that I won't be here when you people really have to deal with this.

Miyavifan 05-16-2008 03:10 PM

I can't figure what Gackt21's problem is, really.

It's obvious Global Warming is a real problem. That's why the seasons are all messed up, for one. Plus what you said, Taln.

i dont believe in global warming, but i do think that we need to clean up our earth and be more responsible about what we throw away and how we do it

ivi0nk3y 05-16-2008 03:12 PM

I pretty much know it's a real problem but perhaps it may be over stated at times.
I do know since i've been young that the weather throughout the world has changed drastically. There seem to be more natural disasters and the seasons have weather which is not normally associated with them.
Something has to be causing this and Global Warming might be at least partly responsible.

SamuraiAlchemistNinja 05-16-2008 03:13 PM

Honestly, I don't know what to believe anymore. I've swayed back and forth, because both sides of this argument have validity, have proofs and whatnot. Is increased CO2 causing damage to the ozone layer? Or is it just natural evolution? I don't know. I really don't.

Natural Evolution of what? The Earth?

Sure! You know, like how the planet went from molten rock to continents with oceans. But oops, I forgot, the earth is the only planet in the universe and we all sprung forth from two people only a few days after this place appeared out of now here fully formed. So I guess the evolution theory is out - even from a geooogical view. We should just accept everything as God's will - even mass destruction.

(Anybody got a bucket?)

acorn 05-16-2008 03:24 PM

come on now, im from california, where its hot all the time, honestly i really dont think global warming is real, just 30 years ago we were having a global cooling, its ridiculous. i admit this winter has been a little hotter than usual, but last summer was a little cooler than usual. but no biggie, im from northern california where the temp reaches to 120, and you dont here me complainin about it bein a little hot

acorn 05-16-2008 03:25 PM

are you religious or something?

TalnSG 05-16-2008 03:34 PM

If deforestation and global warming is all just politics, why did Beijing start following Western thinking?!

Chopsticks = Choptrees

Straits Times, WORLD section page 40, under the Slice of Life section, Saturday, August 11 2007:

Beijing announced the end of use of disposable chopsticks in China as part of the campaign for a 2008 “green” Olympics.

“Restaurants should (permanently) abandon the use of disposable chopsticks for the good of their health and environment,” the China Daily paraphrased China Cuisine Association secretary-general Bian Jiang as saying.

In other words, it will not be a temporary gimmick for the Olympics, it’s for real!

Quoting from New Internationalist:
China is severely short of trees only – 13.9 per cent of its 9.6 million square kilometres is covered by forest. Its amount of forest land per capita is ranked 121st in the world. Now 12 of the 40 state-owned logging companies have nothing left to fell. ‘The remaining 80 million hectares of natural forests will disappear in a decade if this felling continues,’ says Professor Shen Guofang, of Beijing Forestry University.

your absolutely right
we have such a GREAT capacity for creation...
i mean seriously, look at all our past accomplishments~

we created inefficient factories that burn the shit out of fossil fuels
we created automobiles to burn even more fuels
we created plant life by creating greenhouses, which in turn created the greenhouse effect
we created blades, to destroy the forests so that we may CREATE more farms x]
we created all these wonderful little convenient items x]
and wrapped them in these cute little 'disposable' packages.
we created glass x]
we created nuclear factories that create massive amounts of nuclear waste
hell~
we're even creating our own demise w/ all these WONDERFUL creations of ours x]
or, if we can create even more x]
we'll create a colony in space and and and, we'll even create more rubbish to dump on it~
i mean...look at the space surrounding our lovely planet x]
we've got so much liter and trash up there already
