JR East starts online Shinkansen reservation system for visitors to Japan

On March 25, JR East will be unveiling its new internet site for making seat reservations from overseas.
This new system will be called "JR-East Shinkansen Reservation" and available here.

Language: English

The system covers these named trains operated by JR East.

Shinkansen

Tohoku: Hayate (はやて), Yamabiko (やまびこ), Max Yamabiko, Nasuno (なすの) and Max Nasuno
Yamagata: Tsubasa (つばさ)
Akita: Komachi (こまち)
Joetsu: Toki (とき), Max Toki, Tanigawa (たにがわ) and Max Tanigawa
Nagano: Asama (あさま)

Other express services

Narita Airport: Narita Express (成田エクスプレス)
Joban Line: Fresh Hitachi (フレッシュひたち) and Super Hitachi (スーパーひたち)
Chuo Line: Kaiji (かいじ), Azusa (あずさ) and Super Azusa (スーパーあずさ)
Ito Line: Odoriko (踊り子) and Super View Odoriko (スーパービュー踊り子)

Tokaido, San'yo and Kyushu Shinkansen are not covered because these lines are operated by JR Central, West and Kyushu, respectively.

Registration is free and requires a credit card. You can use JR East Pass and Japan Rail Pass.

Select the date, train and station at which you would like to receive the ticket.
Then you'll receive an email to confirm your reservation from JR. Print it out and take it to the station.
You also need to show your credit card. VISA, MasterCard, AMERICAN EXPRESS, Diners, JCB, and JR East VIEW Card are accepted.

From now on, you can make reservations for the trains I listed above.

It's good for travellers who have Japan Rail Pass or JR East Pass.
