The Type N700, a new Japanese bullet train jointly developed by Central Japan Railway Co. and West Japan Railway Co., made its debut in Tokyo on Sunday. Excited Japanese rail passengers came out to see and ride the new superfast train.
JR is touting the Type N700 as the fastest bullet train ever. It will travel between Tokyo and Shin-Osaka stations in two hours and 25 minutes, and race between Tokyo and Hakata in four hours and 50 minutes. The faster Shinkansen service saves Japanese train riders about 5 minutes on the Tokyo Osaka route and about 10 minutes between Tokyo and Hakata.
