Medical insurance covers 80%
Maybe 100$. Like I said, if you use it right, it pays for itself. John Hopkins will do surgery on my miniscus in my knee next month. This is the #1 hospital in the world. THE WORLD. Total cost with insurance, 400$ Cant beat that. Well the French can.....fuckers.. |

I pay for medical insurance, which I almost never use, and it wouldn't cost me very much. TokyoFerrari is right...a couple hundred bucks. The real problem is that with private medical insurance companies, they are a business that is more interested in making money than helping people. Many procedures and surgeries cost LIFE-ENDING amounts of money. Part of the reason for that is that DOCTORS spend 10's of thousands of dollars a year on malpractice insurance. They have that because LAWYERS encourage people to sue any time a person isn't healed 100% after an auto accident, on-the-job injury, etc. Doctors have to protect themselves, and we end up paying the difference.
Japan is not as litigious, (I don't think any country is), and so you get different results. |

hmmm. ok so sicko is a bit missleading... As for the french medical system. i have to admit. it is great. i pay insurance for 190euros per year and i get 100% cover on EVERYTHING. medicine (which without insurance i'd be paying more thatn 1000euros per year), dentist, doctors, surgery etc etc. ofcourse this price is the student price. but even for a normal adult its not much more expensive.
but for me. the good thing about france is the doctors... they seem far more educated and precise and goodwilled than british doctors. I've got a blood problem, and i've been coming to france to see the worlds number one specialist for this blood problem ever since i was born. but when i decided to get the follow ups in england, the doctors were a bit shit, and i went to a privite hospital etc etc. all they done for me in england was take ridiculous amounts of blood from me every 6 months and tell me "everything is fine, don't worry"... i went back to france, they took one little tube of blood, and they told me my problem as worsend and i needed stronger drugs |
