Tips for Newbie visiting Japan on Sep 2008
Greetings everyone, would be travelling free & easy to Japan
for 6 days......would like to have some tips as i would be staying @ Sunlite Shinjuku (Tokyo)........ the places i would like to visit which i heard of are as follows 1) Tokyo Disneyland 2) Mount Fuji 3) Shops that sell WCCF soccer cards & Sangokushi cards WORLD CLUB Champion Football Official Web Site 4) Odawara castle @ kanagawa........ hope someone can help out........:o :o :o |
what tips would you want?? Do you know japanese language? will you be going there with any native japanese? I advice you to study the railway maps in tokyo first so that you can manage your schedule on how to get to the places you have listed.. since here it is quite complicated for a amature.. even, for me it is quite difficult to remember the lines and the names of the station if i dont have a mobile phone.. huhu

Yokoso Japan : )
Hia,
Hmm - if you're coming in September you probably can't climb Mt. Fuji - the season is very short from end of July through August. Maybe someone else can confirm exactly. You can get some great views of Fuji though from places like Hakone. The best time to see her in all her glory is during the winter months when the air is clearer - once the heat and humidity goes up she tends to hide in a haze - I reckon she's shy ;) Disneyland comes in 2 parts here - Disneyland and Disneysea - 2 completely different places but they are next door to each other. If you can avoid weekends and national holidays as bot get packed. I queued 2.5 hours last time just for one ride! Cheers and all the best |
If you're into Ghibli movies, the Ghibli museum is a must.

thank you so much for all the advice.......:o

seems like hakone is a must visit ?
:o |
Maybe if you like mountains and hotsprings.
|
It is up to you and what you're into - but I love Hakone and would highly recommend it :)
|
Is there any place in Tokyo or Hakone that we can buy
cheap WCCF or Sanguo arcade playing cards ? Also any place that have SEGA arcades games ? :o |
I am not sure but try Akihabara in Tokyo. It is the big electronic town in Tokyo full of nerds and the like.
|
Unless you are a big Disney fan, I wouldn't waste one of only six days there. It's basically like travelling to Orlando, FL.
|
I thought of going to Disneyland & Sea for the 1st 2 days together
with Universal Studios.....before travelling to Kanagawa & Hakone... :o |

Lake Kawaguchi is a great place to view Mt Fuji. At least that was my experience while I was there. However, it was during the winter season and hence like what uktokyoite said, it's much clearer then.:)
anyway, be awed by its beauty..:) |
