Advice on 20 day trip to Japan
 

Hey guys,


leaving with a friend soon to Japan. The plan is simple, land in Osaka and after 22 days take flight back from tokyo. We can do anything in-between. Sample itineraries would be appreciated.

For Osaka, Kyoto is definitely on the list. As for tokyo, I was interested in city itself and explore southern regions in case we have time left.

Transportation: I reckon best bet is a tram pass there?

Also, can I easily acquire yens on/near osaka airport?

you can also check out nagoya on your way to tokyo, and there's nagano and hot springs ^^ don't forget tokyo disneyland XD they have currency exchange places at airports, but when i went to japan i found i got a better exchange rate at the post office

OM me with your email address. I will send you a sample itinerary. Travel a bit west to start, go see Hakata, Miyajima, Hiroshima and Himeji first, then move back over to Osaka, Nara, Kyoto, Nagoya, Hakone, Yokohama, and finally, Tokyo....

Train pass is your best bet yes, but there will be places where JR don't operate, and you will need to pay for local transporation.

Bank machines at the airport accept international bank card (like Interac), so if you have on you can just do your withdrawl that way. Or you can get it from the post office.

Ok some nice places to visit are Hiroshima and Miyagima as already said. Hakone for hotsprings and Mt Fuji. Kamakura near Yokohama is a good place to see a big buddha statue. (see my blog)

I'm going to Japan in October (all month) and its more a case of choosing what to leave out as there is just so much to do and see, i think it really does depend on what your interests are......

Manners, you mentioned Fuji-san, isn't the season for climbing Mount Fuji closed at the end of August ?

Waaw Osaka! Dont forget to taste the local seafood. <3

Yes it is, but viewing it is a different matter. Good views from Hakone and the cable car. But it rained when I was there.
