Japanese Rail Pass -
09-21-2008, 07:12 AM
I am living just outside Tokyo and will be here for 97 days from Ireland. As such I will have to extend my temporary visa from 90 days to 97 days.
I will be traveling around Japan for my last 7 days and as such would like to take advantage of the Japanese rail pass. Will I still have a temporary visa and therfore be able to avail of the rail pass after I extend my visa by 7 days from 90 days to 97 days or will I have a different type of visa making me un-eligible for the rail pass? I would be very grateful for any assistance. |

Hi there,
I honestly don't know the exact answer to your question but I do know that you cannot buy the pass after you arrive in Japan. You must buy it before you enter through a local travel agent or authorized agent. When you are in Japan, you then exchange the receipt for the pass itself. As to how it works if you are going to need to extend your stay... I don't know. I would really suggest you talk to your travel agent to confirm whether this is possible. Maybe someone else knows more... ![]() |

yes, it will still be a temporary visa. 短期滞在.
does ireland got one of those 90+90 deals? otherwise it can be difficult to extended, not impossible, since i have done it once. make sure to be nice to the immigration ppl. 蒼天(そうてん)翔(か)ける日輪(にちりん)の 青春の覇気 美(うるわ)しく 輝く我が名ぞ 阪神タイガース ※オウ オウ オウオウ 阪神タイガース フレ フレ フレフレ |
