Only Tokyo or No Tokyo
 

If you were going to Japan for a 10-day trip, and were told you could either spend the entire 10 days in Tokyo, or had to spend the entire 10 days anywhere BUT Tokyo, which would you choose?

Tokyo!

There is very much to see in Tokyo, and 10 days would go very fast

I love Kansai too much to not go there.

I'm a city person. I like BIG cities you can get lost in. Plus I like museums, architecture and night life, that's mostly found in capital cities.

Tokyo, definitely. There's loads of things to do in Tokyo, and then I would go back to visit the rest of the country.

No contest, no Tokyo. There are plenty of cruddy urban wastelands in every country, why would you waste your precious time in another?!

I can go to everywhere else! thats like saying would you come to the US without seeing Washington D.C.

I would say no tokyo

I'd say "no Tokyo" as well since the country is so vast. There's more to Japan than just Tokyo. It's like coming to the US and going to New York or California but not checking out other parts of the country.

I might get bored if I spend ten days somewhere else.

There is a lot to do in Tokyo, but I would probably run out of things to do in Tokyo in 10 days, but could spend a much longer time traveling all over Japan.

I would say Tokyo, but if i had more time to spend other than ten days then i'll definately go elsewhere in japan.

Luckily for me, I get to spend time in Tokyo AND have a few months travelling around Japan in Nov.

A few MONTHS traveling? How is that?

Well, I'll be spending over 3 months there. I know a few friends living in different parts of Japan so I might stay with them for a little while (my grandma lives in Hokkaidou so I'd probably stay there too). I don't often get to go back to Japan (once every 3 -5 yrs) and when I do, I never go outside of Tokyo/Yokohama so I just want to travel as much as I can this time round. Dad lives in Yokohama so I can go there between trips to rest maybe.

It's going to be so much fun! There are so many things I want to see!

At least next time I would be able to go to another location:D

I'd find more to do in Tokyo. Then again I'd cheat too if I felt like it.

i'd spend my whole day in tokyo just since i didn't get to spend any time there when i went to japan

I'd personally spend the whole time in Tokyo as it's such a massive city and there would be so more to explore and discover that you would never not become bored as there's just so much fab stuff to take in all around you and never a dull moment in sight...as far as I'm concerned, it's one of the best cities in the entire world :)

There are SO MANY things to do OUTSIDE of Tokyo, why only Tokyo? It sems like Tokyo is almost its own country now!

Yes, Okinawa! I could spend a lifetime on the beaches of North Okinawa!

Oh, dude, totally! The beaches are amazing from what I've seen. I heard the food was good too. And, there are temples nearby too, right?

I can go see more towns and the rest of the country rather than just staying in Tokyo. Yes, it'd be awesome, but I'd wear out my resources in the city.

It'd be fun to go to Kyoto and Osaka... :)

no tokyo. i've only been to tokyo once, i prefer kansai. if i would get a 10 day holiday right now i would go to kyushu to visit friends and maybe spent some days on okinawa. i still wanna go to hokkaido too :)

I agree. There is A LOT more to Japan than Tokyo. Lot's of nice little out of the way places, like my village: Otaki.

In agreement... Tokyo = Big City, Nice City, Great City, but Tokyo != Japan

I rather spend my time in Hokkaido because its the food mecca of japan.

Iv been to Tokyo twice already i would like to go elsewhere and see Japanese life outside of the big city some place out in the country and rural area's.

i would only consider spending my 10 days in tokyo because its a short trip. Then again i would still choose to stay out of tokyo. There is so much more to see.
