Kyoto - Accommodation recommendations
 
Are there any suggestions for accommodation that is central in Kyoto so we can access everythign and also lovely and traditional - a proper experience - but not too expenseive as we need to stay for 4 nights. not too much to ask hey!?!

Granvia is "Part of" the kyoto station: HOTEL GRANVIA KYOTO | Official Site

If you want something even cheaper, you can go with Kyoto central Inn (http://www.kyoto-centralinn.jp/) site is in Japanese, but you can book through Japan-Hotel.net: KYOTO CENTRAL INN - JapanHotel.net

Both locations can acess major subway line easily....

kyoto century hotel is really nice and reasonably priced. right next to the station as well.
