11-26-2008, 10:53 PM
Hi,
Mitch here from Youbekiwi New Zealand, tours for young Japanese. Check out YOU BE KIWI New Zealand Tours for more info about our uniquely kiwi tours. Just wondering if anyone has any advice on how we could market ourselves in Japan on a limited budget, trying to think outside the square a bit. We really think our tours are going to be awesome for people wanting a truely hands on authentic trip around our beautiful country. would appreciate any advice, Cheers, Mitch |

You might want to have a look at Trends in Japan - CScout Japan Blog as they are searching for new marketing ideas in Japan (bassicly the other way round, but they know alot about the japanese market). You can also contact them, however thats probably gonna be a higher budget then.
Ill have a thought about it and tell you if i got any ideas. |

Here are some ideas -

Hi there,
We've had some success in the past with signing-up for mixi and creating a community around some videos we uploaded to the site on the topic of advanced English. It's a lot of work to keep it up but if you stick to it, it'll be worth it. Also, you should try partnering with travel agencies in Japan-- there are a bunch of them (large and small) and they are all looking for new experiences for their travel clientele. This will probably be your best bet. AdWords in Japan will be hit or miss. It will be important for you to have a credible partner-- that's how business gets done in Japan. If you do decide to spend money on PPC ads, use Yahoo's Japan network since people use Yahoo more than Google over there. Aaron Free Japanese for beginners mini-course includes audio of native Japanese speakers. |

That's some great advice you've given and I totally agree about Yahoo Japan if you are marketing inside the country! |

Hey,
Can't thank you enough for the advice, definately going to the get the ball rolling on some of those ideas. I was thinking of making a cool video, What kind of videos do you think would be watched more, - Fast moving, fun, extreme kindof videos with a lot of action. or - Scenic, relaxed feeling videos with good soundtracks and professional feel. Cheers guys. Mitch YOU BE KIWI New Zealand Tours |

Well because you are rather going for young costumers, it would go with the fast extrem part. But why not add a little bit relaxing at the end? Like first riverrafting and Bungeejumping and than the evening with a campfire or so (in the video of course)
