Hotels and translators...
 

In May clients of my company are taking a week vacation too Tokyo, Japan.
However, I have no idea where I should book them.
So, setting down all financial barriers what are the best hotels in Tokyo? They're a couple with two daughters.
Also, I'll be taking a business trip there myself in June and will need a business hotel that is affordable or perhaps something that is even cheaper.

I'm on the look for a translator as well to travel with them and perhaps myself later on.
Someone that knows Japan quite will and speaks the language clearly.

Imperial Hotel
The Ritz Carlton
The Four Seasons Chinzansou
Conrad Tokyo
etc.

You can easily arrange for a translator when you make the reservation at those hotels.

As for cheaper hotels, pls. take a look at some of the threads here. There are hundreds of them.

Attention: Tourists to Japan probably should avoid early May if possible. Early May is studded with national holodays and many stores are closed then. Department stores, however, are mostly open.

I wasn't sure about hiring a Japanese translator, I didn't want to have too fight with accents.

This year's Golden Week (as it's called in Japan) is April 29 thru May 6. You may want to avoid that period if you want to see Tokyo in its "normal" self.

Many Tokyoites return to their hometowns or go on vacations. A lot of smaller, family-owned stores and restaurants will be closed. But larger stores, big chain eateries, and practically all restaurants located inside hotels will be open so it's not like you will starve or anything. As a matter of fact, some people will enjoy Tokyo more during the Golden Week because it will be considerably less crowded.

The biggest problem that I can think of is when a foreign tourist wants to take day-trips out of Tokyo on trains during that period. The trains will be packed with no more reserved seats available. But inside Tokyo, it will be heaven with no rush hours to worry about.
