Tokyo Metro and Luggage?

Hihi-

Just wondering if the Tokyo train system is really as crowded as rumors say.
Trying to figure out what size luggage to take. Don't want to take something too big if it's going to be awkward to get around with on the train due to congestion.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Thanks

The trains are only very crowded during the peak rush-hour periods in the morning and afternoon. You shouldn't have any problems with your bags, you'll see plenty of travelers on the trains carrying luggage.

Not nearly as deep as some stations on the Tube...

You`re right. Compared to the other subway systems out there, Japan`s is fairly shallow. I think that there is nothing deeper than 26 or 27 meters. I know Nagoya`s deepest station is 25 meters.... And it is still a pain to go up and down the stairs into it.

I can`t even imagine some of the 100m deep stations in other countries.
