You ever dream of living in Japan?=P

I'm one of those people who are pretty damn happy living where I am. But everytime I cross anything related to Japan, especially Tokyo (like watching Lost in Translation) I'm always thinking "DAAAMN, just imagine living in Tokyo!!".

But I'm also realistic and I know I'll probably never end up living there. I swear Tokyo is like a dream city, only the lucky bastards go there!

The people I hang out with (I'd say 70% of my friends are boring slackers/stoners, not gonna deny that I am one too though) are usually not into Japanese or asian culture whatsoever, neither am I honestly, I just like Japan specifically. but I have one friend who's just like me (he's not "into" Japan like me, he only used to watch a bit of anime back in the days but that's it) and we're always talking about going to Tokyo together with no goal whatsoever, but to just go there and probably get all the girls (since they like westeners) =D

Tokyo... it's like the city of dreams. Everyone wants to go there=D

Anyone else just wishing they could go to Japan, but know that they'll probably never end up there?=P

Too bad you weren't having this dream 20+ years ago, when being a foreigner in Tokyo was about all it too to get all the girls.

I have noticed two types of foreign men in Tokyo: Those that think just being a foreigner will get them girls, and those that know that Tokyo girls aren't that thick.

Personally I really don't like Tokyo at all but then I don't think I've ever been to a big city that I did like. That's why I live in a little country town in Hokkaido. for me that's living the dream! :D

And I feel the same way about the opposite side of the country. I can't stand Tokyo for more than two weeks at a time. I like living in a rural setting in Kansai. Unlike GoNative, I cannot stand snow, and am quite glad we only get one or two days of really heavy snow during the winter. Most of the time we just get cold rain, and that's bad enough!

My father-in-law, who was born in Tokyo, used to say "Tokyo is not a place for human beings to live" (he moved to Kanagawa as soon as he left his parents' house), so it's not the city of dreams for everyone! I've lived in Tokyo for nine years though, and I like it.:)

Add me too to the list of people who don`t like Tokyo.
Really, I can`t stand the place - particularly as you can get all the amenities and convenience while not dealing with that level of grubbiness and crowding by living in other big Japanese cities.

Really couldn`t pay me enough to live there. My husband has passed up countless "promotions" into permanent positions in Tokyo over the years, even though the pay is 2 or 3 times what he gets working elsewhere.
Unfortunately he can`t get out of short term business trips there, but really it`s not a place I would ever choose to live. And the majority of people we know who do live in Tokyo live there because they really have no choice - their job sent them there.

I think it becomes the "dream Japanese city" to those outside Japan simply because, well, it`s the only city really known outside of Japan.
