Excuse me but Shinjuku is not a prefecture, which is the thread is about. It's just a section of Tokyo.

Kanagawa-ken is where my parents were raised and where most of my relatives reside so I have a special bond with that prefecture. Especially the city of Yokohama.

However, I'm dying to check out Hokkaido some day. I have a feeling that I'll really like it up there. Especially looking forward to checking out Susukino.

Yeah and they have their own dialect which is a pretty cool difference from other Northern cities like Tokyo. :D

I LOVE kansai ben!! It's like Japanese with spunk :P

I have to say Wakayama! It was my home for 2 years, and has some great scenery. Nara-ken was very interesting too, though!

That sounds amazing! I'm very jealous right now XD
I'd love to have In-Laws in Kanagawa more than anything :p
You're one lucky person!

The most I've heard of Hokkaido is that it's a snowboarder/skier paradise, and that it has many hot springs. And of course, the snow festival :)

I remember my tutor telling me that if I included some Kansai-ben when speaking with a Tokyoite, they'd think I was very cool

It is certainly a skiers paradise and there's lots of hot springs but of course it is so much more. We have a bit of a saying at the ski resort I work at, most of us came here for the snow but most of us end up living here for the summer. Hokkaido in summer is amazing. So much more to do than in winter and the weather is nowhere near as hot and humid as down south and we don't really get a rainy season. Magnificent mountains, forests, lakes, rivers, coastline and beaches. A beautiful place to visit and to live. The autumn is also great and probably my favourite time of year with the forests turning incredible colours and the peaks of the mountains getting their first snow.

Are you kidding? Each time I visit, they're always stuffing me with food, getting me drunk and introducing me to every single female within a 3 block radius! Who wants that? :D
