Question Culture Day November 3rd - 09-14-2011, 04:53 PM

So i will be in Japan during this holiday, and I am just curious what exactly shuts down during this day? Also are there any special parades or events in Kyoto or Osaka during this time?

Thank you, I know in America for a national holiday things close down, so I was curious what it is like for Japan. I have been reading about the history of culture day and it sounds like a really great holiday.

Nothing shuts down as far as I know. It is really more a school holiday than anything else. Schools have festivals that anyone can attend. I have never heard of any sort of large scale events - most people who are in school are incredibly busy getting ready for their school's event. The school festivals can be pretty serious, with famous bands, actors/actresses, etc, showing up to draw people in.

If anyone is trying to find me… Tamyuun on Instagram is probably the easiest.
