Nagi Noda, Japanese Artist & Video Director, Dies at 35

There was some very sad news from Japan this week. The super creative, super pretty, and way-too-young-to-die female Japanese artist, designer, and video director Nagi Noda died last weekend at the age of 35. According to reports, she apparently died from complications related to a car accident that she was in last year.

Besides her creation of the famous Hanpanda characters, Nagi Noda has worked with everyone from Utada Hikaru to the Scissor Sisters to Yuki (she did the famous video for Sentimental Journey). Noda also did work for companies from Coca Cola to LaForet Harajuku.

Noda was very influential in the Japanese design and art world and many younger female designers looked to her for inspiration. She will be missed in Japan and around the world. According to reports, she died peacefully, surrounded by her friends and family, wearing a dress designed by one of her favorite artists, Mark Ryden.
