I read
this article from a UK newspaper and thought it was interesting and maybe some JF artists from England are interested.
Basically, they are having a contest in Britain for indie artists (those who haven't had a solo show in Japan yet) and you can win a show at the biggest contemporary gallery in Tokyo, Tomio Koyama.
Tomio Koyama Gallery is the same gallery that started Takashi Murakami, Yoshitomo Nara, Mr., and many other cool Japanese artists.
Here is a little bit of info on the contest:
Quote:
The Daiwa Foundation Art Prize will not only offer the winner an award of £5,000 and their first solo show in Japan, but will also provide a period of support and introductions to key individuals and organisations within the Japanese contemporary art world.
In its inaugural year, the prize is open to all British artists resident in the United Kingdom who have not previously had a solo exhibition in Japan.
