Momiji Manju - 02-23-2010, 01:13 AM

Hi!
6 years ago, when I visited Hiroshima, I tried Momiji Manju on Itsukushima island, and ever since I've longed for them, but havent been able to find them! I've looked online, and in every Asian food market I've seen to no luck, does anyone out there know of anywhere that does, or may have these delicious little treats? XD

Yeah, I miss them too.

Please read my diary that I wrote when travelling and working in Japan for three months. It is also packed full of information. I hope that it can inspire you to have an adventure too.
Please contact me if I can help you with advice or information.

You might not be able to buy momiji manju but try looking for taiyaki How To Make Taiyaki | The Anime Blog. It's pretty similar, just not shaped the same. I guess you could make up a straight forward dorayaki Japanese Dorayaki Recipe - Recipe for Japanese Dorayaki Cake or failing that you could experiment by making up 'koshi-an' red bean paste (or buying it) and using it as a filling in a waffle.

It might help if you told people where you are now. If you are in Tokyo, I can help, but otherwise...

The guy says "(I looked) in every Asian market." Doesn't that automatically exclude Japan or even Asia?

Nope, I didn't. Why correct me and not poooooon who bumped the thread up though?

ETA: Ah, I see masaegu already did. My fault for not reading all responses.
