Vegan Food in Japan
Hi, i was wondering if it would be hard to find
vegan food in Japan. Oh yeah, a Vegan is some one who doesn't eat/drink meat, fish, eggs or milk. P.S. I haven't been here since 2007.:vsign: So if i did some thing wrong, sorry and feel free to tell me. |
A vegan friend of mine visited, it was impossible to eat out. She had to buy her own food at the grocery store and cook it herself.
Most people have never heard of vegan, they assume it's vegetarian, which they assume is someone that doesn't eat meat, and many don't feel fish fits in the meat category. |
I found this↓
"Tokyo Vegans club" 菜食レストラン情報[Vegan Restaurant Guide]―東京ヴィーガンズ・クラブ [Tokyo Vegans Club] Some restaurants can serve vegan food, but most of them are mainly for vegetarian. As RealJamessan says, we Japanese are not familiar with vegan. I had never known about vegan until I went to America f^^; |

I'm a vegetarian and I was thinking of staying with a family but I'm a bit worried they might not know what to serve me.

Japan is very much known for its sea food so its really hard to find vegan food over there. But one can end up with MacDonald fries, pancake and noodles. If not then some searching can be done over internet.

Oh wow, I am going to bookmark this thread; I am Vegan as well and was wondering about this as well.
So it's safe to say that I should be buying my own food most of the time when I go down there? |
