· Puffer fish can blink and close their eyes, which is very unusual. There are few fish that can accomplish this.

I never understood how people could eat poison until I tried it! Definately worth the risk (there is in fact no risk unless the chef is wanting to kill you :p )

theres a place in Roppongi called FUGU's, i wana try it out. it specializes in it.

lol mcdonalds, home of the bouncing rubber chicken nuggets. Actually, I think Fugu sounds good(if the chef prepares it right...if not your dead). I heard since there was poison in it, it numbs your mouth and throat. It sounds like an interesting experience.:)

Have you nott seen that episode of the Simpsons where they go to that Japanese restaurant (or was it Chinese?) and Homer orders puffer fish and then he just thinks he's going to die soon? lol

well what i think happens in the simpsons episode was the fact that he was poisoned, but was able to survive the 24 hour period because of the idea that he was fat? (correct me if im wrong)

as for fugu myself.. im set.. i have a hard enough time dealing with dying my hair as being the biggest risk in my life right now

as for mcdies.. well.. its mcdies!! i wont eat that crap anywho... ever since i quit smoking cigarettes, healthy options just seem so much more appetizing.. there is way too many chemicals to enhance the taste in that corporation.. im terrified to try their salads.. although there is ONE thing i will eat there.. the double cheeseburgers, mmmm greasy goody dollar food!!

People generally die from eating fugu (pufferfish) not because the chef made a mistake, but because people purposely put the poison the fish created naturally onto the fish. A little bit numbs the mouth, but too much is deadly. If you don't put the poison on, you have nothing to worry about.

I would have to be w/ u on that one..my bf showed to me this video that appears in youtube or break.com that a guy goes and buys all the mcdonalds combos and he keeps them for 10 weeks or more and the burgers start to rotten out and then the fries good as new after almost 2 months

that's pretty f*cked up..since that i never had mcdonalds *gags*

I was about to point this out. Also eating the poison gives you a bit of a buzz apparently.

I refuse to eat mcdonalds...and most other fast food restaurants too.

I wouldn't mind trying fugu one day.

then again, I've also had tripe and tendon at pho restaurants. I love vietnamese as much as japanese food. the tendon was a little rough, though...I probably won't do that again.

I'm scared to eat fugu, squid, jellyfish, and raw foods because I fear I'll die from it, I'm not used to the Japan diet because I'm always eating American food. Though it doesn't pay to try something new as long as you know what you're eating I guess.

McDonald's is starting to lost it. The steak egg and cheese bagel and pancakes, egg and sausage breakfasts are to me the only good thing about the restaurant. I tried hash browns a few times from there and it tasted like a piece of you know what. My mom could cook hash browns better than that. :mad: I'm sticking to Burger King's Whopper. :p

I've never heard of eating squid being harmful at all. it is kind of rubbery and hard to eat, especially if it isn't prepared right...but that isn't going to kill you.

Fugu would only be available at high-end sushi restaurants or fugu restaurants. In Japan the chef has to have a special permit to serve it (at least I heard that). I don't ever remember seeing it in the US.

Fugu (to me) was actually pretty good.
Though I was afraid to try it at first....then my mom started throwing it at me and made me eat it,lol

eat McDonald's hanburgers..If you remember..the US consists of several ethnic groups..I am Mexican and when I go to McDonald's..I buy a salad..I prefer my kind of food which is MExican or Asian like Vietnamese, Thai, or Japanese but in these parts Japanese or their food is hard to come by....I hate the way most of the world stereotypes Americans..we are all different...

hahaha it's delicious.. and not as bad as you think. as with the picture above, japanese don't see how americans can eat so much fast food. yes, we are the fattest people on the planet because of our diets and the fact that americans are lazy.

well i dont know about fugu are deadly or not, but my dad eat them when he comes to japan, and he comes back alive :)

Well I don't think its weird that they eat Fuugu. Its just another thing to add to the menu. Plus chefs must know how to prepare the food before they serve it. I mean look at Americans and how they eat hotdogs!

Everybody gets stereotyped, not just America. Most Americans think Dutch people still walk around on clogs, and that all Dutch people are avaricious.

By the way, I don't think it's weird Japanese people eat fugu. I'd never do it because of the risk, but I'm just a chicken xD But I acutally think it'd taste quite well.
