Tonde, koronde,tobiorite, tobikoete

hi:)

my name is david from Japan.
i write the meaning of those Japanese.
meaning of English of "tonde" is "on the fly"
meaning of English of "koronde" is "fall down"
meaning of English of "tobiorite" is "jump over"
meaning of English of "tobikoete" is "overshoot"

in any language, a meaning changes with nominative.

i have one more question? if i were to say

hi matt san

If japanese say,"otokonoko wa koronde imasu."
That's meaning is "boy is falling" right!
I'm glad to be of service..._〆(゚▽゚*)

Just a side note - I think "korobu" ("koronde") would refer to falling in sense of tripping over/tumbling down while "ochiru" would refer to falling in the sense of a vertical drop("otokonoko ga gake kara ochita" - the boy fell from the cliff)

thnx guys for your help. but i have one more question, what is the difference between onnanoko wa tobiorite imasu and uma wa tobikoete imasu. wouldn't they both mean jump over?

Debezo 01-25-2008 03:46 PM

tobu - jump/fly
oriru - go down
koeru - pass/beyond

tobioriru means jump down.
tobikoeru means jump over.

onnanoko wa tobiorite imasu means the girl is jumping down.
uma wa tobikoete imasu means the horse is jumping over.

Katchan6 01-29-2008 01:50 AM
