Actually, I still have to teach myself whatever I can.
My school won't let me take it as a summer or after school course at the collegese. -_- bastards.

And everytime I have been trying to take classes at the japanese christian church or the buddhist temple, my family finds excuses or something magically convienent for them for me to do to miss registration.
So all I can do is read whatever, hear whatever, and practice whatever I know.

Took my five-six years to finally be able to get by just a little. Now I can have decent conversation with my japanese friends and would be able to get by if I was there for a month or so...
but I still need to learn more.
So coming up soon, no more delays.
Time to get to it.

I can hold a fairly decent conversation if I have a dictionary nearby. However, I talk at a very slow pace.

Subtitles for television shows have been probably one of the best learning tools for me. They have helped my ears in getting accustomed to the natural rate of speech. I still have quite a way to go.

I'd have to say my biggest weakness conversation-wise is my inability to comprehend slang and my slow rate of speech.

Oh, also. 独学しています。でも、今年の夏休みは留学生で日本に 行って高校に入ります。

I started about a year ago, but I have no teacher and a lot of it is self-taught through the internet and the Rosetta Stone computer program. So, not very far ~ ! But my pronunciation is pretty good, and its become much easier to talk fast in Japanese over the last year.

Which ones would you recommend the most? I have the kanji dictionary for the DS, but no training software.

200万人 series are all good, at least that is how i feel. I think these are the most popular ones as i know most people seem to have one of them. I'm going to try out the 大人の漢字練習 title and see how it goes.

other than the 200万人 title at the front left and back right i also have 正しい漢字かきとりくん　and a couple others not there. so if you want to know something more specific about them i might be able to help.

same with me though learning yourslef is pretty hard == do u have like japanese friends to help you with your japanese?

isnt kanji like all chinese characters?

A simple question that is really complicated...but the simple answer is "no".

i would say the simple answer is yes but traditional characters and not the ones used in mandarin, which are simplified.
also japan has created some of it's own characters and they have simplified some of the characters in their own way. eg 楽 also some of the characters carry different meanings to those in Chinese. eg. 豪 can mean australia in Japanese but not in Chinese.

I never studied japanese I always want to studie it but I never found a teacher I´m so lazy to study it myself:confused:

I haven't even studied for a year, but I think I'm getting a hang of it xD I studie alot harder than the other's in my class x3 And when I was in Japan, people understod what I said. But I want to be even better n__n

I wish I had time to study it. I know the basics & just some random stuff.
