Learning Japanese sites.

I've been teaching myself Japanese since the local college by my house isn't running it till next fall. So I've been using two sites lately, but I'm unsure how 'correct' they are. So anyone who speaks Japanese (or is learning it from a class) can you tell me if these are good sites to use so I don't confuse myself when learning. Also if they're not good sites it would be much appericated if you directed my to some good/'correct' Japanese sites.

Japanese Phrases

Online English to Japanese to English Dictionary

I don't know this website but I can see learning on the net would be dangerous...
I think you'd better to buy a japanese grammar book :)

The dictionary site might be ok... but not so much the first site.

Just like Matte, I'd suggest using a book.

That first one...well...memorizing lists of phrases is dangerous, as different things are said in different situations. For example, I would almost never use "Anata wa" for "And you?"

Miyavifan 04-29-2008 11:26 PM

really? What would you use?

animelover32 04-30-2008 12:09 AM

Alright guys. Thank you so much. That's thought would be wrong (using certain terms that arn't commonenly used). I'll have to start saving up my money again or pay my libary fine...But thanks again!

haha.. that's like me... huge library fine here. Hope to be able to pay it soon, so I can check out books again, to continue learning Japanese.

I think he would use "[name] wa?"
it's not so good to call someone using "anata" even if it is a formal word ^^''
japanese is very strange language... :p
