How do I say this in Japanese - 05-01-2008, 04:22 PM

I wanted to say

The freedom of human is the thought that they think they are free, nothing more

人間の自由は自分は自由って思いに存在する,それだけ

Is that correct?

白鳥は哀しからずや、空の青、うみのあをにも、染まず ただよふ。
美魚さんは白鳥、僕は青、ぼくらは交わらない

To me, that それだけ ending looks too light and casual in comparison with the rather serious context.

I come up with these two:

人間の自由とは各個人が自由と感じる事に存するのであ り、それ以上のものではない。

人間の自由とは、各個人が自由であるという感覚以上の ものには存在しない。

Thanks, actually this is a theory Dennett propose

Since if determinism is right, then man are not the cause of their actions, which dont have to take responsibility for what they did

if responsiblity theory is right, man are the cause of their actions, but there remains another problem, what cause their thoughts.

Dennett says you cant distinguish the difference between a programmed random number generator and a natural (human like) random number generator. So he says, Freedom of human is the thought that they think they are free. Actually, human's fate is determined, but they still think they are free, so they are willing to take repsonsibility for what they did. And This solves the responsiblity problem perfectly lol

Thanks , anyway~

You mean katakana form? Words that are not of Japanese origin do not have kanji =p

ラクナコエル
ra-ku-na ko-e-ru

At least that's how I'd write it.

I installed Japanese text support on my computer. This lets me read/write Japanese characters.

Using Japanese Text Input on a Microsoft Windows PC

There are technically 2 keyboard's installed on my computer, English (United States) and Japanese, which I switch between with shift+alt. I just change the input method to Hiragana on my keyboard (when in Japanese mode) so I can use the QWERTY keyboard positions to type still.

On the subject of confusion between hiragana and katakana, just study them more ;p Like 30 minutes a day. I know there is a lot of them (46 of each!) but it can be done with persistence. Now, kanji on the other hand... I'm very lazy when it comes to studying kanji ;p
