What does "sasuke" mean? Please don't say its just the name of a Naruto character. It is also the name of an eX-Girl song and I have seen it on Ninja Warrior as well.

Sasuke = original name of Ninja Warrior, that's why you see it in the background. Just like how you see Kunoichi in "Women of Ninja Warrior". Kunoichi is the original name.

I know. But you will be disappointed if you think Japanese names always have cool meanings.

Sasuke means "Left Help". The kanji for Sasuke is:

佐助

First one means Left. Second means Help. I warned ya.

Did you make a careless mistake? 佐 means 'help/assistance/support' too. well, it could be 左助.

According to my half-baked knowledge, 佐 was used as a samurai's rank. and 佐殿 was the nickname of Minamoto Yoritomo aka the first shogun of the Kamakura Shogunate. so 佐助(Sasuke) was used as a boy's name by his suppoters means as 'a supporter of samurai(Yoritomo)'. On the other hand, Sarutobi Sasuke is one of the most famous fictional Ninja. So it is usually used as ninja's name to ride on his coattails.
Kunoichi is the argot for a female ninja.
