December 7th JLPT, how was it? - 12-09-2008, 04:32 AM

I'm sure there are some here who took the JLPT on Sunday. If so, how did you do? Was it very difficult? Or did you find it easy?

I took the test at Japan University in Tokyo, and I think I did okay on it. The first two sections (reading/writing and listening) were quite easy. The third section (reading/grammar) was more difficult, and I struggled with a few of the questions, but I think I got enough right to pass.

How was your experience? And where did you take the test?

Thread at a different forum.

Apparently, even the 2-kyuu and 1-kyuu tests were easier than usual this year.

what level did you take, Sangetsu?

I was going to take it this year but I think I will next year...thinking somewhere along the lines of 2kyuu or 3kyuu depending how my kanji will be at the time

I took level 4. I considered level 3, but I decided to play it safe, and get a feel for what the test was like.

For learning kanji, I recommend a book called "Basic Kanji", which I found at Maruzen. It's actually a serious of books containing 250 kanji in each book. It's the best printed resource I've found for learning and practicing kanji, and it helped me a lot.

The book is divided into sections, each section containing a certain number of kanji. Different readings are taught, and there are example phrases using each. At the end of each section is a place to practice, both reading and writing.
