sorry, if you look at the majority of my posts you will see underneath "edited by shad0w at so and so time, reason: I can't spell for peanuts"

I think either my fingers or my keyboard just randomly adds vowels at any given moment.. one or the other. either that or i'm a 'tard.

probs the latter :p

Lucas89 01-06-2009 10:36 PM

「日本を望む」は英語で何と言うの?分からないんだか ら :p

is 望む like to hope or want (or something along those lines)? Sorry to ask for an explanation in this thread but this word is confusing me, and i guess it's for practise anyway xD

あぁ。。。なるほど
i would have though it would be something like 桜が咲く時、日本にいたい but then again i don't really know, just a guess :p and that would be "I want to be in Japan when the sakuras bloom" not "would like to be" assuming ofcourse my sentence is correct lol

きっどう?
けど is "but/however" kinda thing, but the only thing i can find when i look for きっどう is the katakana for kid キッド

Trouble 01-07-2009 10:44 PM

hehe So what's worse, romanji or writing in all kana? Doesn't all kana make you seem like a little kid is writing or will Japanese tolerate it?

What's worse? Romaji. No comparison!

Japanese write in all kana for the first couple of months of 1st grade untill they start learning kanji and replacing the kana little by little. This may be a short period of time but it's the natural course of learning to write. Therefore, we don't even have to "tolerate" all kana. We're all used to seeing it.

Yet we never write all romaji for as long as we live. Romaji means writing Language A using the letters of Language B. It isn't cool. Sensible Japanese people won't tolerate it just as sensible English-speakers wouldn't tolerate it if I wrote English in all kana.

Well, that's good to know! I know romanji is pretty terrible and I can't stand it, and looks like this is a universal feeling. I was more wondering if pure kana wasn't seen to be just as bad as romanji, but I guess/hope not! Kanji is out of my league, I don't have the time and resources to learn it in a realistic time frame. I mean I can barely "read" hiragana at 1/4 speed of my normal reading, at most.

no, its lazyness. The only way you guys could be any further spoon fed is if one of us came round your house and did it for you.

Why can't you guys just admit you're too lazy to learn kana?
